You have to be the computers administrator to change any values on any hard drive on your computer.
Click start control panel user accounts on the users tab click the name of the computer Administrator you must have full control.

select the sharing tab option then advanced sharing make sure you have a tick in the share this folder box then click permissions make sure you have all 3 boxes ticked full control changes and read in windows 7

Click start right click on my computer select open
Right click the icon of your Flash Drive (It should be F:/ or something)
Click Properties in the menu that comes up
Click the Sharing tab
Click permissions

I have a Recoh MP C5201. I was reading USB pen drive before but now when you slot in ant usb pen drive,it displays that an incompatible usb has been installed.USB has been enabled but can not read it.How can I solve this problem. Regards, Bentil

try updating the firmware of your drive or updating the usb drivers if its a usb drive

Yes, Windows is recognizing that you connected a USB device into a USB port on your computer, but that's all that has happened, from Windows "point-of-view".

If the drive came with a disk and they usually do I would recommend you install the disk first and after the installation has been carried out you then try to connect your hard drive via your usb port. Use the preferred method of connecting the drive to your PC. But if it asks you to install the software first, then disconnect the drive, install the software, then install the drive, and start it going again.
It should work fine.
Except ... if you only have USB 1.10 and it asks for USB 2.0. Then you have a problem, as that slight incompatibility will stop it from working properly.

After consultation with the shop which sold the drive, they helped me work out the problem. Which was that the drive I was attempting to use in the Philips enclosure, had an OS on it, which was conflicting with the OS on my current HDD. So, that particular drive will need to be connected another way to access the information.

I had this problem with the GZ-MG505AA (connecting to WinXP SP3). I tried a different USB cable and it worked first time.
Not sure what is different about the cables (the original cable worked fine with my WM 6 mobile phone).
