Scanning - error: Sender's name not selected
We have a few of these machines in our company, but this one won't let me send a scan to an email... above error message.
Finally figured this out!!
Go to: UserTools - System Settings - File Transfer Tab - page 3 of 3 - Auto-Specify Sender Name - <ON>
First, you are going to need a lot of patience and about an hour. Forget about the idea that this is going to be simple. This is a Ricoh printer. You are going to have to peck at a little touch screen until you are exhausted. The menu you need is nested 20 deep. You will need to enter your email address on a tiny touch screen keyboard about five times. Forget about doing it from the scanner screen. You have to administer the address book. I am not going to tell you exactly what you have to do, because I don't have an hour to find the screen I was on again. But here is my vague recollection. There is a little button above and to the left of the touch screen. It says user tools or something. Push it. You will see some buttons on the screen. Ignore the one that says scanner. Try the one that says something like system tools. Now you will see a bunch of tabs across the top. Choose the one that says something about system administration. Now you will have a multi-page screen. I think you need to page down to page 2. Look for a button that says administer the address book. I forget what to do next, but basically you are trying to enter yourself into the address book. You will see a bunch of tabs across the bottom. You need to enter your email address on more than one of the tabs. Also, someone mentioned going into the protection tab and setting it to both destination and sender, or something, so do that, too. If you have managed to enter yourself in the address book correctly, which you probably haven't on the first try, then start hitting the exit button until you are exhausted. If you get all the way back out, then you can hit the scanner button to the left of the screen. You should see your email address in the freq list. If not, then repeat the above steps (good luck). If so, select your email address. Now put your document in the paper feeder and click the big green start button. This is my favorit part. You will now get the original error message again. Don't panic. Find a ball peen hammer. Hold it firmly above the top right corner of the touch screen. Don't drop it yet. You will notice that a new button is lit up that says select sender. Push it with your finger. Discard the hammer. Now find your email address again in the freq list. Select it. Now press the green start button again. This should send the document to your email address. If not, find hammer again and excersise your best judgement and debugging skills.
Open the address book. Under the protection setting, select both destination and sender.
Login on the machines web interface.
Fill in the adrress book correct!!
User name has to be a destination and a senderaswell.
Than you have an option to attach a sender when you want to send an e-mail.
User's tools then address book then select the protection it must be sender.
Try this
Follow this steps
User Tools ------>>>>
System Settings---------->>>
File Transfer Tab------------->>>>
Go to last page >>>>>>
Auto-Specify Sender Name Should be on.
try it
this will work
In 2020D (very old model) you can do it only with panel printer interface, in menu scanning settings, auto set sender email to printer admin.

Where are the protection settings located?
I have nothing listed as "Protection Settings" under an address book entry. The documentation provided by Ricoh is worthless. Where exactly are these "Protection Settings" where we are supposed to set the e-mail address?
agreed...no protection settings
in system setting under file transfer you need to turn on auto sender name apply. if you need exactly point to point where to turn it on please leave a comment
