No fax log in my J4680 running Mac Snow Leopard 10.6.8. The manual says you can view the fax log for my J4680 AIO printer. It is nowhere on my drive. HP had me uninstall all HP software and reinstall. HP...

If you have reinstalled the software what to do is open up the hp utility which is located in the applications folder and then the Hewlett Packard folder from this application you can then choose under fax settings the fax logs button and this will show you the fax logs for the printer. Hope this helps. The link to the HP software is at http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=219&lc=en&cc=uk&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=3692888#N201

How do you find fax log for sent faxes on Dell 962 All-in-One

Only faxes sent and received by Fax Console can be seen by Fax Console. View the Status of a Fax Using Fax Console or Fax Service Management
  1. Click Start All Programs (or Programs) Accessories Communications Fax.

  2. Click Fax Console or Fax Management Services.

  3. The following folders appear:

    • Incoming - faxes currently being received

    • Inbox - faxes that have been received

    • Outbox - faxes scheduled to be sent

    • Sent Items - faxes successfully sent

  4. Click the folder of your choice.

  5. Click the fax in the right pane for which you want to view the status, and then click Preferences or Properties.

  6. Click the General tab and view the Status line.

  7. Click Close when you are finished

We cannot receive any faxes and get the error '

We've seen this error many times, and in most cases the problem is due to mismanagement of the send and receive logs. You probably have way too many faxes in your Receive Log (or, some corruption) You should read this

You may receive this error if the pc fax application is closed and you have faxes stored in the memory of the machine. To resolve this issue, you will need to print the faxes already stored in the memory of the machine. To print the faxes, please follow these steps:

1. Press the MENU key.

2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Fax.

3. Press the OK key to confirm your choice.

4. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Print Fax.

5. Press OK.

6. Press the BLACK START key.

- Your Brother machine will print the stored faxes.

7. Press the STOP/EXIT key to exit the menu.

8. Once the stored faxes have been printed, click WINDOWS/START, (ALL) PROGRAMS, BROTHER, XXX-XXXX (X = MODEL NUMBER), PC-FAX RECEIVING, XXX-XXXX or RECEIVE (depending on your operating system).

9. The Brother PC-fax receiving icon will now appear in your Windows Task Tray indicating that Brother PC-Fax Receiving is active.

Seems I can send faxes but have problems with receiving.

That's a driver problem. Uninstall the driver first before reinstalling it.

Restoring sent and received faxes to fax logs

That's not the way to backup your logs. You copied only the fax images, and not the logs to go with them. This is a common error that is made quite often. Unless you have the original log structure, your data (logs) that link to the actual fax images (fxds, fxrs, etc.) are lost.

Error 232 receiving fax

fax error 232 indicates a communication failure between the sending and receiving units. I'd check for line noise on the phone (you can hear it as cracks and pops) If your fax line is not dedicated, any noise from another phone pickup or an answwering machine can cause the failure.
