Blurry Scanning/Copying MP780 produces blurry black and white copies and scans but color copies are fine. Prints fine in color or black and white, so problem seems to be limited to printing/scanning. I've tried realigning print heads, cleaning and other maintenance items from the internal menu with no luck. Have had this printer for 2 years and problem just started a couple weeks ago.

I scanned both B&W and color no problem using the flat bed scanner and not the ADF.

I took my MP780 to a Canon repairer because it was smudging in one line down the page and he told me it had a moth caught in it and repaired it. I printed tonight and it's no better!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll ring him tomorrow, but if anyone can help I'd appreciate it. It's fine in colour, and it's smudging in one line down the page -hence the idea that there was a dead moth caught made sense!

Are you scanning both black and white and color the same way? The ADF (automatic document feeder) uses a different scanning area than when you place the document on the scanning glass. If you open the scanner cover, look to the left of the main scanner glass to the narrow strip used for the ADF. Make sure this narrow strip is clean -- no ink or white-out or scratches. This can make your copies look dirty or smudged.

Copier feature (Black or Color) only produces a Black page

I beleive you are not able to make a color copy, once try to scan from the computer or all-in-one to check whether the scanner mechanism is working properly or not, if the scan comes out fine then remove the color cartridge and clean the copper contacts of the cartridge with soft cotton cloth and also check the ink level of the cartridge, if the issue persists replace the color cartridge and if even the scan does not comes out good then there is an issue with the scanner mechanism.

HELP!!

First off, I'm not too sure if that Printer is a color printer. Its a color scanner yes, but i don't think is a Color Laser Printer! Secondly, can you explain in more detail what kind of scanning and printing issues you have witht the printer? Prints unclear as in blurry or too light? are u having trouble installing the scanner or is it not scanning the images correctly? regards babb
