    babb,
thank you for responding. okay i think your right i dont think it is a color printer. about the scanning problem. i scan to the computer, and i see it like 400x bigger than it should be and it is clear like that. when i shrink it to fit a size of paper to print back out(basically making a copy is all) it is blotchy, and blurry. you cant read it at all. i dont know why its doing this. please help!

First off, I'm not too sure if that Printer is a color printer. Its a color scanner yes, but i don't think is a Color Laser Printer! Secondly, can you explain in more detail what kind of scanning and printing issues you have witht the printer? Prints unclear as in blurry or too light? are u having trouble installing the scanner or is it not scanning the images correctly? regards babb

Well i think your issue there is the scanning utility!

Whatever utility you use to scan to the printer is probably set to too high a resolution and not probably not black and white/grayscale.(If you scan a regular b/w document as colour and then direclty print them to a black and white printer it will look weird!)
Set the quality to black and white and 72 - 144 dpi should be enough for a black and white document. And if you scan documents with colour images, try Grayscale first!

I'm not too sure about this but i think that particular model All-in-one should be a copier as well and and if you want to make direct copies then you should just place your document in the scanner and press the start button.
Number of copies can be modified directly on the scanner!!

I don't wanna go on too long and i'm not understand the problem fully, get back to e if this sounds about right!

    regards,
    babb

How do you stop a test page from printing every time the printer is turned on?

Welcome to FixYa!

Here's how to stop the unwanted print out of test pages.

1. Let the printer print the test page.
2. Place the printed test page in the scanner face down and wait for 10 seconds.
3. Press the scan button of the printer to scan the printed test page.
Make sure that the printer scanned the document properly.

That's it. Every time you install a new cartridge, the printer aligns the print cartridge as well as testing/aligning the scanner.

Note: Try to look at the top of the test page, it should have instructions to place it in the scanner.

I hope that this will help.
Thank you for using FixYa.

Put scanned document on my computer to print afterwards if necessary and read on my computer

I am unclear on your problem but in general..you use the scanning software that came with the scanner scan the document and save the scanned file to your computer as a pdf file for documents or tiff or jpg for photos, (you set the type of file you want to save with the software options)
To print afterwards open the pdf with acrobat and print it
Did that answer your question?.

Our printer will use the copier and scanner function fine but when we try to print some thing out it will not use any ink. we replaced both ink cartage black and color. All colors work when we copy or scan...

Do give the ink some time to come through, gravity will do the rest.

You could clean the ink heads to get the ink to come through quicker.

When printing the document, go through the settings and see if you see anything to do with the darkness of the print.

press the scan button from the printer
printer will blink the light for some time and stop blinking
now it didn't print test print every time you print

Scanned image only prints in black and white

it's tricky / annoying:

you have a preview ...
you have some of the (3) images checked
but also you have some of these images selected (blue outline)

now:
when you select (I don't mean the checking) an image you'll have to set the scanning params
again - or check them ...

if you select an image, and then set the params (like "color"), your scanned image will be in color

....
also resolution is the same way ..
especially after crating preview .. it'll be set to 300 Dpi
so after seecting one for scanning - check the resolution too :)
