Question about Canon PIXMA MP830 All-In-One InkJet Printer
My printer has been working fine, today when I went to print I get the following error, "The Type of Printhead is Incorrect, Install the correct Printhead"
I have not replaced anything, it is the factory original printhead, roughly 6-8 months old. Reset does not help.
I have a Canon PIXMA MP830 printer with the same problem have reinstalled the printhead but no Luck with printing receive the same message. Thanks
Ok i know this is kinda old, but i found a solution.
First to those people to state I found a solution from hp, cannon etc etc and not give out the direct link, or instructions, then whats the point fing posting????
This error happens when you install an oem cartridge onto your system. Or havent used it in a while, so the machine is somehow misfigured.
This solution is for canon mp800, simply switch off printer. HOLD stop/reset and press and HOLD on/off button. release stop/reset. Now press stop.reset twice. then release on/off button, press stop/reset 4 times, wait 20 seconds, press on/off button twice.
switch machine back on and the printer should find the cartridges.
This method maybe the same for your mp*** if not google RESET CANON PRINTER MP*** and you'll find the correct buttons to press.
here's a printer on reseting a bunch of canon printers http://tricks-collections.com/reset-printer-canon-mp140-mp160-mp180-mp210-mp220-mp460-mp470-mp500-mp510-mp530-mp600-mp610-mp800-mp820-mp810-mp830-mp960-mp970/
good luck.. and FU canon for adding you scamming chips into cartridges.

I follow the instructions for the print head error and Behold it worked! I had also cleaned the print head by removing it as shown on youtube and my goodness was it clogged with ink. Love the Internet!!!
I ran the print head under warm water as instructed turning it over and over under the flow of water. shook of excess water and gently wiped the contact. Great Like new.

Don't know if this was what really fixed it, but I cleaned (with toilet paper) what is called the "ink supply ports" as well. I just brushed over them very lightly. The Canon support site says not to touch them, but since it would otherwise mean buying a new printer, I figured it was worth a shot.
Also, I removed and replaced the print head twice.

I read all the solutions listed and went to the Canon Tech Support site and learned how to remove the printhead. The Canon instruction were outstanding by the way. I removed the printhead, cleaned it up, put it and the ink tanks back in, and got the same error message. Went to a Canon store in Bangkok and amazingly they had a new one, however a bit pricely ($57). Put this one in and I was back in business--it worked! I was thinking the worst and a little worried that I would be waisting $57. Thanks all for taking time to write about your trouble-shooting adventures.

Here is other information can help you, remember im here id you have any other cuestions:
Error printhead type is incorrect install the correct printhead Canon...
You can look at the electrical manager, ie connect the printer to another location, often the little power that it can receive the printer, can cause these errors.
Clean the printer contacts, which connect to the print head, here something that can help you in this regard, it is not for your Canon printer, but show which is the important part to clean.

Go to www.canontechsupport.com and follow the thread to get to the support for your mutifunction machine and error message. Removing all the tanks and reseating the printhead worked for me, although it appears it didn't work for others.
I carefully wiped some of the ink from the edges of the printhead assembly, but don't know if this really did anything. My 830 is about 18 months old and I have been using both Cartridge World and Canon ink tank replacements.

I have a Canon
Canon PIXMA MP830. This error message popped on printer screen, "The type of print head is incorrect, install the correct print head." Any suggestions on how to trouble shoot?
Same story. The other day went to print without changing a thing and the printer alarmed and indicated that the incorrect print head was installed and to replace it with the correct print head. Sounds like a faulty error to me. There may be something with the cleanliness of the print head/contacts. I'll check these and report back.
i have the exact same problem
The type of Printhead is incorrect, Install the correct printhead.
The Type of Printhead is Incorrect, Install the correct Printhead"
darn it i got the same problem...time for a new one?
I had the same problem - it just appeared on the display and I hadn't used the printer at that point. I removed the head, cleaned the contacts with some toilet paper (seemed appropriate) re-inserted, turned it off for about 10 minutes and it seemed ok. Printed a document, still ok. This morning I awoke it prom it's sleep mode and the message is back. At this rate I am going to run out of toilet paper.
"Error: The type of Printhead is incorrect, Install the correct printhead."Â
I had the same problem, and followed the directions on resetting the print head from canon support website and it worked. Â I also used toilet paper to clean the print head contact.
