What do the buttons on the bpr 40 do?

Both buttons have a short and a long press function. The button right below the PTT button is typically programmed to short press Monitor, long press Sticky Monitor. The bottom button comes from the factory on scan/nuisance channel delete. The buttons can be custom programmed when the dealer is programming the radio, so these are just a general guess based on the factory default setting. Other options include repeater talkaround, high/low power, volume set, and maybe tight loose squelch.Best regards.

Mag One Radio - Static

If your BPR40 radios are all about the same age, it could be a sign of your batteries getting old and needing replaced. A bad or weak battery will cause the radio to exhibit static, and then eventually poor or no transmit. Check your battery date code first, it is a 3 digit number on the battery label, followed by a space and then usually a number 1. On the 3-digit code, the first number is the year, the next two the week of the year. 229 would be 2012 the 29th week. Replacement batteries should be available for around $35.If you feel the battery is not the issue, you may have ONE radio which is causing the problem. Try using all your radios and testing by shutting off just one radio at a time. You may identify the culprit. Motorola offers a one year warranty on the BPR40, after the warranty is done, flat rate repair is typically available for $69.Third possible cause is some type of interference in your area. If this is the case, your radios may need a PL code programmed into them, if you don't already have one. This will filter out unwanted noise or transmissions. Sidenote: If you've added any new computers or electronic office equipment recently, it may also interfere. Some foreign produced computers will lack the filters required in the USA to prevent interference with communications. Coiling excess cables can be helpful in stopping RF noise. The second of static at the end of your transmission is called "white tail" and is common in all modern radios. There is a programming feature to eliminate most of the white tail noise, it is called reverse burst. Your radio dealer can reprogram your radios and add this to your radios, or future radios you buy. The trade-off with reverse burst is that you will loose the last of your spoken words if you do not hold your PTT an extra moment, as reverse burst actually transmits back or cuts off the end of a transmission to eliminate the noise. White tail is worse when mixing old model and new model radios together.Best regards.

My bpr 40 all time have a green light on in a scan mode how i can block the scan mode

In order for your radio to scan, it would need one of the side buttons programmed to scan. Usually the top side button is programmed for monitor/sticky monitor, and the bottom button can be programmed to any of a number of features, one of them being scan. These buttons have both a long press selection and a short press selection. All this being said, it is possible the bottom button is programmed for scan. Try pressing it a short press and/or a long press and see if it shuts off your scan. To remove scan completely from your radio it would need ot be reprogrammed by an authorized Motorola dealer.Best regards.

Not charging

Here are some troubleshooting ideas:
1) Clean your battery contacts with a pencil eraser, both on the radio and the charger (gently).
2) Have your radio turned off when placed on the charger.
3) Does the light on the charger come on when you place the battery on the charger?
4) Try another battery on the same charger and see if it will charge a different battery.
5) Try the known good battery on this radio and see if the radio functions correctly with a known good battery.
6) Try a different charger with the questionable battery and see if you can get it to charge.
7) Be certain the insert in the BPR40 charger is turned the correct direction for the type of battery you have. When inserted correctly the rails should guide the radio into place, placing the external charge contacts on the radio against the charge contacts of the charger.
8) Check the date code on your battery, if more than 2 years old, replace it.

Best regards.

How do I connect Mag

The Mag One BPR40 is dealer programmable. You have two choices:

1) Reprogram your CP100s to match the new BPR40s. For this you would need to know what the dealer programmed the BPR40s to... OR
2) Take your BPR40s back to the place of purchase and request they reprogram them to match your CP100s. This should be a free service since you just purchased the BPR40s. They will need to know some settings from the CP100s to make the match.

We purchasedn 3 bpr 40

Your new radio is likely not programmed the same as the others. A continual tone indicates a channel which is not programmed (doesn't have a frequency installed).

The other thing which can cause a tone, is a low or uncharged battery. You might try switching one of the known good batteries to the new radio to see if it will work. If you still have the same continual tone with a known good battery installed, you have a programming issue. If the battery swap solves the problem, then you need to investigate why your battery isn't charged up.

Either way, contact the dealer where you purchased the BPR40, they should provide programming free, or a warranty replacement battery for free. If you ordered online or by mail, and you just received the radio within the week, you should request they provide return shipping for you.

Best regards.

Re: MagOne by Motorola, BPR40

None of the buttons will solve this issue.

A repeating low tone is heard when you press the PTT if your battery level is low. You may have a bad or poorly charged battery. It takes more energy to transmit than to receive, so the first place this shows up is when pressing the PTT. A quick way to check this is to swap batteries with a known good radio and see if the problem switches to the other radio.

Battery tips: Clean your battery contacts with a pencil eraser to remove the film caused by hand oil. Always charge your battery with the radio turned off. And be certain your charger is plugged into an outlet that is not connected to a light switch shutting off power. Batteries last approx. 2 years. Check your battery's date code to see its age. (3 or 4 digit number, first one-two numbers are the year, second two are the week of the year. example: 1132 would be 2011 the 32nd week)

If the above does not solve your problem, you should see your local Motorola dealer, or a nationwide repair center for more assistance. Current flat rate repair on this style unit is typically around $69.

FYI: Your buttons are likely top button = monitor/sticky monitor and the bottom button could be hi/low power, scan or one of several other features. Each button has a short and a long press option.

Best regards.

We use these radios in

It is possible the headset you are using is not the one engineered for the radio, and draining the battery. Or this radio is being transmitted on heavily and running down the battery. You might try changing headsets and see if the problem clears up. Not all headsets compatible with other Motorola Radios will work with the BPR40.

You will need the RLN6303 RDX Radio to Radio Cloning Cable, or two drop-in chargers, or the multi-unit charge tray. Instructions for cloning are on page 51 of the user guide: http://www.weatherconnection.com/manuals/RDV5100.pdf Best regards.

My magone BPR40 radio isn't sending when PTT

A couple of thoughts:
1) Check the mic hole and see if it is covered or clogged with debris.
2) Does your PTT button seem hard or the opposite, mushy? You could have an internal PTT issue. The PTT is a common failure part on 2-way radios. Feel around for the 'sweet' spot and see if you can make a simple or partial transmission, or if it will even momentarily open up the receiver on the other unit. If so, your radio is in need of repair. It would likely need a new internal PTT. (At most repair centers where the BPR40 is repaired the flat rate repair currently are around $69 for the BPR40)
3) Has any reprogramming been recently done on the radio? If so, double check the programming to be sure your PL/DPL code is set the same as your other radio.\
4) Check your battery. Trade batteries with the other unit and see if the problem changes. It takes more energy to transmit than to receive.

Best regards.

Just got a Mag One BPR battery delivered to me and

The charger which comes with the BPR40 is a rapid charger. (The book doesn't indicate if it is a 90 min. or 3 hour charger.) None-the-less, your battery is fine. When your charger is displaying green it will continue to trickle (slow) charge the battery to keep it topped off, so to speak. The first 3 charge cycles you should leave the battery on the charger the full recommended time. On most Motorola radios it is 10-12 hours. This will assure your battery is charged to full capacity and initiated properly. In most cases, your traditional charging of the radio should be overnight. When you go to bed, put the radio to bed on the charger.

FYI: All batteries come from the factory with some charge in them. It is a small test charge to assure the battery's funcationality.

If for some reason after the first week or so, you think your battery or charger is not functioning properly, contact the dealer where you purchased the unit. They can replace it under warranty.

Best regards.
