BPR40 Mag Beeps twice every second

First check your battery pack. A bad or low battery will produce static. Secondly, check your antenna. If it seems to turnaround inside when you hold on to the threads and the outer sheath, you need a new antenna. Beyond this your radio is likely in need of repair.

A few thoughts:
If it is a long continuous beep this can be an indication of having the channel select set to a channel which is not programmed.

If it is a beep that only occurs when you press the PTT button, similar to the low battery beep, it could be a battery, battery contact, or internal battery contact issue. Clean battery contacts between radio and battery, as well as external contacts, with a pencil eraser to assure a good connection.

If it is a beep that occurs periodically when pressing the PTT button, it is possible your radio is programmed with busy-channel-lock-out (talk prohibit tone), which would not allow you to transmit on a frequency which is already in use.

Here are some troubleshooting ideas:
1) Clean your battery contacts with a pencil eraser, both on the radio and the charger (gently).
2) Have your radio turned off when placed on the charger.
3) Does the light on the charger come on when you place the battery on the charger?
4) Try another battery on the same charger and see if it will charge a different battery.
5) Try the known good battery on this radio and see if the radio functions correctly with a known good battery.
6) Try a different charger with the questionable battery and see if you can get it to charge.
7) Be certain the insert in the BPR40 charger is turned the correct direction for the type of battery you have. When inserted correctly the rails should guide the radio into place, placing the external charge contacts on the radio against the charge contacts of the charger.
8) Check the date code on your battery, if more than 2 years old, replace it.

The Mag One BPR40 is dealer programmable. You have two choices:

1) Reprogram your CP100s to match the new BPR40s. For this you would need to know what the dealer programmed the BPR40s to... OR
2) Take your BPR40s back to the place of purchase and request they reprogram them to match your CP100s. This should be a free service since you just purchased the BPR40s. They will need to know some settings from the CP100s to make the match.

Your new radio is likely not programmed the same as the others. A continual tone indicates a channel which is not programmed (doesn't have a frequency installed).

The other thing which can cause a tone, is a low or uncharged battery. You might try switching one of the known good batteries to the new radio to see if it will work. If you still have the same continual tone with a known good battery installed, you have a programming issue. If the battery swap solves the problem, then you need to investigate why your battery isn't charged up.

Either way, contact the dealer where you purchased the BPR40, they should provide programming free, or a warranty replacement battery for free. If you ordered online or by mail, and you just received the radio within the week, you should request they provide return shipping for you.

None of the buttons will solve this issue.

A repeating low tone is heard when you press the PTT if your battery level is low. You may have a bad or poorly charged battery. It takes more energy to transmit than to receive, so the first place this shows up is when pressing the PTT. A quick way to check this is to swap batteries with a known good radio and see if the problem switches to the other radio.

Battery tips: Clean your battery contacts with a pencil eraser to remove the film caused by hand oil. Always charge your battery with the radio turned off. And be certain your charger is plugged into an outlet that is not connected to a light switch shutting off power. Batteries last approx. 2 years. Check your battery's date code to see its age. (3 or 4 digit number, first one-two numbers are the year, second two are the week of the year. example: 1132 would be 2011 the 32nd week)

If the above does not solve your problem, you should see your local Motorola dealer, or a nationwide repair center for more assistance. Current flat rate repair on this style unit is typically around $69.

FYI: Your buttons are likely top button = monitor/sticky monitor and the bottom button could be hi/low power, scan or one of several other features. Each button has a short and a long press option.

It does sound like the battery is mostly dead. Enough to receive but not enough to transmit.

The battery is low which is causing the alarm to activate, replace the battery. I'm going to guess that it gets pretty hot where you are between the times you listed. BMW cars have been known to be affected by heat.
