The pages have a very dark background and it is in the pattern of wide stripes

Is this for all colors or just one color? There are three color toner cartridges plus a black cartridge.

Sounds like you might have corrupted your programming. See if you can do an update online by going to the EasyShare website and searching for updates for your model. You maybe able to download and reinstall the software.

Try unplugging power cord for a few minutes. Printers often reset themselves when you do.

Really sounds like a defective cartridge or bad contact. Have you changed any of the toners recently? If so, try another cartridge of the color that you just changed.

First rule of thumb power cycle I had to do that on many electronics even my truck reove the battery terminal

I decided to change the background of my desktop and it works.

i'm not sure if you're talking about a solid black band or a bunch of little stripes running down page. does it happen when you run an internal report or only on copies? if its a black solid band, check and make sure the bluish colored tab on top of the drum is all the way to the left side. if its a group of fine lines, depending on whether it happens on internal reports or not, it could be the drum is going bad or you may have a bad scanner. write back with a little more info if this suggestion doesn't work.

You screen "LCD" is broken , need new lcd panel. Very expensive

the crt's pcbs need to be adjusted, screen control is not balanced

I experienced the same approx. 1/2" vertical stripe on a Viewsonic vx1945 and ATI Radeon x1050 video adapter on Vista Business SP1, but the stripe appeared along the left edge of the screen, instead of right edge. I then temporarily decreased the monitor resolution, and the stripe went away. I then increased the monitor resolution back to its original setting, and the stripe did not re-appear. So, that was the 'fix' in my situation, hope this helps.
