A bar code stripe on the right side of the copy.

I get a dark bar code stripe about 1.5 inches wide running from the top of the right hand side of the copy to the bottom of the right hand side of the copy. The toner is also weaker in the same 1.5 inch stripe.

I made sure the bluish tap is all the way on the left hand side. The the solid band with white vertical streaks in it, look like a bar code. It is not a bar code. Sometimes it only happens on part of the page. One time it only happened on the top 1/10 of a full page. Sometimes I don't get this 1.5" bar on the right hand side of the page. This happens with copies and with faxes. I thought it could be the scanner. Where is the scanner?

I'm not sure if you're talking about a solid black band or a bunch of little stripes running down page. does it happen when you run an internal report or only on copies? if its a black solid band, check and make sure the bluish colored tab on top of the drum is all the way to the left side. if its a group of fine lines, depending on whether it happens on internal reports or not, it could be the drum is going bad or you may have a bad scanner. write back with a little more info if this suggestion doesn't work.

good luck,

okay, if it happens on internal reports, or RECEIVED faxes, then it is not your scanner. its more likely your drum. your scanner or what brother refers to as the CIS, which stands for contact image sensor is under your control panel. lift up control panel where you would feed your originals, and look for a piece of glass running left to right and about 1" to 1.5" wide. under that glass is the CIS. about the most the user can do if this is the problem, is make sure the glass is clean and clean the white plate that is directly above glass.

Black line about 1 1/2 inches wide down side of faxes or copies

if your RECEIVED faxes look good, then leroyal is dead on. you will need a new CIS which stands for contact image sensor. if you have an authorized brother service center nearby, they may be able to do it for 100 to 150.00, depending on their pricing of course. if rec'd faxes are bad also, pull drum out and make sure the blue tab on top of drum is all the way to the right side, although that usually only leaves about a 1/2" black band.

42" Panasonic Plasma - Vertical red stripe 6" from left side

We originally had a red stripe roughly 3" wide running vertically on the ride edge area of our Panasonic 52" Viera plasma tv. It has now been joined by a solid black stripe of the same width running from the top to the bottom. Living in Germany and purchased at local PX long enough ago that the warranty is likely expired. Now what?

Unprinted stripes on sheets

could be the drum causing the issue or the scanner assembly.

Hi. i have an LG 42inch plasma, approx 18 months old. about 2 months ago, a green stripe developed down the right hand side of the screen, approx 1.5 inches wide. last week a 2nd stripe the same width...

Sadly, the plasma screen is failing. The green strip is no longer functioning properly and the failures will continue to progress.

If still under warranty, get it exchanged.

Dark strip down center of page when coping from tray

There is a small strip of glass on the left side directly under the edge of the scanner, About a half an inch wide. It has something on it.
May be very hard to see, use a strong glass cleaner or some alcohol and a regular piece of paper to clean it with.

Dark Vertical Stripe on Right Edge of Screen

I experienced the same approx. 1/2" vertical stripe on a Viewsonic vx1945 and ATI Radeon x1050 video adapter on Vista Business SP1, but the stripe appeared along the left edge of the screen, instead of right edge. I then temporarily decreased the monitor resolution, and the stripe went away. I then increased the monitor resolution back to its original setting, and the stripe did not re-appear. So, that was the 'fix' in my situation, hope this helps.

OKIpage 10i does not accept A4, and wants 'Letter'

Maybe you won't be able to use A4 paper, which I think is 3/4 inch longer than letter-size 8 1/2 x 11, according to the sizing inside the paper tray of my OKIPAGE 10e. My computer, using Windows 98, doesn't list OKIPAGE 10e among the printers I can use with my computer. Yet, Windows 98 has incorrectly identified my printer as Okidata OL-600e for some reason. I'm surprised my printer works at all with Windows 98. Thanks for detailing your question as "when I print a test page (from the printer controls), because I was unaware I could print a test page using printer controls, so I started pressing anything that looked like an electronic button on the top of my printer. I believe this trial and error eventually helped me to get rid of an unwanted 1 inch wide bar, from top to bottom of 8 1/2 x 11 pages about 2 inches from the right-hand-side of my pages. This was progressively getting worse. I thought I was going to have to buy a new printer. I bought this printer used, and without instruction booklet, so I used your info. about printer controls and started pressing electronic buttons. It's amazing, because after I made about 35 copies, now the annoying 1 inch wide black bar is gone!
