Paper out message, wanting A4 size

I attempted to print an Excel spreadsheet but the printer kept telling me it was out of paper and I should load A4 paper. i don't have A4 paper, all I have is 8.5 x 11 paper. It is fully loaded with that size paper. How do I get it to go back to printing on 8.5 x 11 paper and how do I make it continue to print on 8.5 x 11 regardless of what may be 'required"? What do the buttons on the top of the machine do, anyway? They are not very clearly described by the printing near them.

Hi rmfgco2009
A4 paper is 8.3"x11.7" OR 210x297
Letter size is 8.5"x11" OR 216x279

So your paper is called LETTER size not A4
What you have to do is;

  1. On the LCD display of the printer, through the SETUP, change the paper size from A4 to LETTER. Save the settings and Exit.
  2. Also, From the Control Panel, printers, properties, preferences, features change the paper size to LETTER. This step can be done from EXCEl also through the printer menu.
  3. You may need to Turn the printer off and on again.
Hope this will work for you. If this solution is helpful, please give a rating.
Have a Good Day

Oki - how to print booklet?

The paper you have inserted into the printer, and your page size settings have to match. You can't load A4 paper and tell it to print A5 size. This is why it is printing so small on the A4 paper. It assumes you need to trim it down to A5 size after printing.

When attempting to print from the internet, the printer does not print and the message in Status says 'letter not loaded in any tray, however the paper is loaded in the tray. I have lifted it out and...

I would guess you are loading A4 paper in the printer.

It is likely the Page Setup within the web browser you are using is set to "Letter" size paper, hence there is a miss-match between the size of paper in the printer and the size of paper selected in your web browser.

The method of changing the paper size in your web browser will vary from operating system to operating system and web browser to web browser.
Try looking under the "File Menu" look for "Page Setup" ensure this is set to A4.

You may also need to check the default paper size selected within the printer driver, again ensure this is set to A4 (if this is the paper size you are using)

We have a Canon Image Class MF3240 Copier/Fax/printer/scanner. We are receiving error A4-load proper paper. We are loading with 8 1/2 by 11 paper. What is this error telling me?

The problem is on the computer, not on the printer.

"A4" is a paper size, just like "Letter" and "Legal".

You probably have your software application, such as Excel, Word, etc., set to paper size = A4.

Do this in your program on the computer:
[File]
[Page Setup]
[Size] "8 1/2 x 11"

... and print your document again.

WHAT DOES LOAD CASSETTE PAPER CODE A4 ERROR ON A CANON MF3240 . WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? THANK YOU

I talked to tech support at Canon, and he explained that the document I was trying to print was originally scanned with an A4 paper size, and my printed is set to Letter paper size, thus producing the error code. A simple solution is to "uncheck" the box that says "choose paper source by PDF page size". It worked!!

Trying to print microsoft excel spreadsheet printer keeps saying load tray A4 both trays have paper whats going on

This isn't actually a problem with the printer, but with Excel's print preferences.

In Excel, select File->Print to bring up the print dialog.
Select your Dell 3100 if it's not the default, and then hit the Properties button just to the right of the printer name.
On the printer properties dialog, there's a field named "Paper size"
Click on that field and select "Letter (8.5 x 11 in)" You may have to scroll to find this selection.

Hit OK to close the printer properties dialog, then hit OK to print your worksheet.

If this helps, be sure to hit the "thumbs-up" for me!

Printing a spreadsheet

You should tell us your "Operating System, Spreadsheet Program and Printer" for us to give you a difinitive answer. Whithout this info I will attempt to give you a general answer.

In your spreadsheet program, go to "File" and select "Page Setup" and set your paper size and set your margines and Portrait/landscape option. Your spreadsheet display should show you the paper limits for printing each page. Adjust the columns to the paper size. Highlight all the columns and rows you want to print. Find the menu option to set print area and click it. Now the computer will send the paged information to the printer and print as many pages as needed to cover the print area.

Do i can customize my paper size in MS Excel 2003

When you are in Excel, go to Print Preview, then Printer Properties. There should be a box that says "Custom Size." There you can input your paper size and name it so you can recall it anytime you want.

My hp laserjet 4 plus printer cannot print excel files

wherer are you printing this, A4 is european, north america would use letter, etc..
if you go to control panel, open the printers and faxes folder, right click the printer in question, a window will pop up, click on properties.. a new window should open. click on "Printing Defaults" or "Printing Preferences" then click on "Advanced" ( I believe it should be to the lower left) that will open another window, in paper size make it Letter if your in N America, A4 for Euro.. this will set the deafult print..
Click ok, then print a test page from the general tab..

The reason you getting this LOAD LETTER message. your excel page setup is set to print to letter, your machine is set to print top A4

If you open Excel then go to Print then a window should pop up where you select the printer you want to use, click on Properties, then Lay out, then Advanced, and input the correct paper size before you print.

does this happen with all excels files, or one particular?
Create a new Excel file, and try printing it.. possibly could be in that particular file. I have seen this happen alott particulary with PDF files.. Where the incorrect paper size is in the file..
