I have cleaned the print heads, replaced cartridges and still can't get text to print. Any idea?

If you have a a solid red light showing you will not get any printing done. On the epson printer which red light is showing? Is it the one for the black or the color? Was that cartridge replaced by you? I have actually seen one cartridge's red light glowing and so replace the cartridge. Then the printer goes through a charging sequence and to my surprise another red light is showing, but this time it's the other cartridge, because the printer was already low on that color and the charging cycle emptied that cartridge enough to trigger the light to start blinking on and off. Now suppose it's the same light that is still on even after you replaced the cartridge. Do this: hold the paper in feed button for about 3 seconds. The printhead will move to the left. Lift up the clamp of the cartridge that
has the red light glowing and bring it down somewhat definitively again to lock the cartridge down. There is a microswitch that is reset when this is done that tells the printer it has a new cartridge installed. Sometimes when a cartridge is replaced the switch is not reset if the clamping process is not definitive enough, or it simply needs to be done again. When you've done this push the paper infeed button again to move the head back to park postition.

Good luck,

How to replace the ink cartridge

1. Look at the indicator light on your Lexmark printer. You'll need to replace ink cartridges when the light flashes or turns red instead of the standard green.

2. Purchase Lexmark ink cartridges. You can buy the brand name or purchase a generic version that is compatible with your printer. You can shop for low cost ink cartridges from ABC Ink.

3. Remove the old cartridges from your printer. Grip the sides of the Lexmark ink cartridges and pull it out. Dispose of the ink cartridges in a recycle program like the one at Staples or save the cartridges for refill.

4. Install the new ink cartridges after removing the protective tabs. Avoid touching the IC chip when installing the new Lexmark ink cartridges. Replace the cover of the printer.

5. Allow the Lexmark printer to run a nozzle test. Print several pages with the new ink cartridges to make sure you installed the ink cartridges correctly. The indicator light should return to a solid green color.

Changing color cartridge on my epson stylus color 980 printer.

If you need to replace an ink cartridge in your printer, please follow the instructions below:

To confirm which ink cartridge requires replacement, please use the printer's control panel (there is a black ink out indicator, as well as a color ink out indicator ), or the Status Monitor in your computer.

Red light flashing - Low ink
Red light solid - Out of ink

1. Open the printer cover and press the INK (Cleaning) button for 3 seconds. The print head moves to the center and the lights flash.
2. Lift up the ink cartridge clamp. The cartridge rises up from its holder.
3. Remove the cartridge and dispose of it carefully. If ink gets on your hands, wash them with soap and water. If ink gets in your eyes, flush them immediately with water.
4. Unpack the new ink cartridge and remove the yellow tape. You must remove the yellow tape from the top of the cartridge. Do not remove the clear seal underneath the cartridge. Do not touch the green circuit board on the back of the cartridge, or you may inhibit normal operation and printing.
5. Tilt the new cartridge toward you slightly as you insert it. Lower the cartridge so that the tabs rest on the hooks. Do not place the cartridge tabs under the hooks.
6. Press down firmly on the ink cartridge clamp until it snaps in place.
7. If you need to replace the other ink cartridge, repeat steps 2 through 6 before continuing with step 8 (to move printhead over to color (if black was replaced first) press the cleaning button once).
8. Press the INK (Cleaning) button once, and close the printer cover. The printer begins charging the ink delivery system.
9. Wait until ink charging is finished (the power light stops flashing and the red error light goes out).

HP 932 RED LIGHT STAYS ON

The light you describe is the ink light.
When that light is blinking, try this.

Turn on the printer. Open the front cover and look at the carrier for the ink cartridges. There is a white arrow right above the latch for the color cartridge.
Once the carrier stops moving, the white arrow should be pointing to a symbol which represents the problem (the reason the light is blinking.) Examples are low ink black, low ink color, sick black ( replace ) , sick color ( replace ).

IF you have just replaced your black cartridge, you might need to replace your color cartridge too.
This printer will not work without both ink cartridges installed and full.
You cant print with a full black and an empty color cartridge unfortunately, even if you only want to print black.

Hope this helps!

Epson Stylus 440, solid light on for black ink, have replaced and still won't print

This morning I was researching to purchase a new printer to replace the 10 year one. The last cartridges I had purchased were from Printpal and made in China. They looked the same, but I had to force the door closed on them. With the solid red light on and replacing the cartridge three times with new ones from this order, it was time to find an old used cartridge from another company that I intended to refill myself. I did, installed it and the solid red light disappeared. The old Epson Stylus 440 is still ticking! However, I had written off InkGrabber for unused cartridges going dry in 2 months and now Printpal is on my $%%# list for non-uniform replacement cartridges as well as not lasting long. I am back to refilling my own. I had followed the instructions for resetting the ink level indicator, but to no avail as those instructions are for a blinking light, not a solid light.

I appreciate your website, if for nothing else, to be able to vent. Thanks so much for your follow-up inquiry and I'm sure you'll hear from me again soon about my old Epson.
