Those marks are the rollers trying to move the paper. check to see if your tray 2 is lifting.if it is then replace the feed rollers.

Trey 1 is giving a message out of paper when they is paper inside

The message "No Paper" will appear on the LCD display if the Brother machine does not detect paper in the paper tray(Tray#1 or Tray#2) or MP(Multi-purpose) Tray.

Resetting the Brother machine may resolve this issue. To reset the machine, unplug the power cord from the AC power outlet for approximately 10 seconds and then plug it back in.

Note

For MFC users :
The Brother machine can be powered OFF for up to 4 days without losing faxes in memory.

If the message "No Paper" continues to appear on the display follow the instructions listed below:

When printing from Tray#1 or Tray#2 :

Pull the paper tray completely out of the machine. Go to STEP2.

When printing from MP Tray :

Go to STEP4.

Note Tray #2 is the optional LT-5300 paper tray. The MP Tray is just above the main paper tray and can be accessed by opening the MP Tray door. To open, pull on either the left or right side of the front door by the circular cut out.

2. While pressing the blue paper-guide release lever, slide the paper guides to fit the paper size. If the back of the paper tray doesn't move, the tray lock button may be in the lock position; slide the lock button to the unlock position and pull out the back of the paper tray again. With the paper removed, you will see the LTR (letter) marking on the plastic plate on the bottom of the paper tray to indicate where the moveable rear guide (with protruding arrow) should be moved to for letter size paper. There is also a marking for legal size paper. Make sure the guides are set at the correct mark. Reload the paper in the paper tray. Make sure the moveable rear guide does NOT push tightly against the paper. It should be adjusted to the LTR (letter) or LGL (legal) position, depending on your paper size. If the moveable rear guide is pushed too tightly against the rear edge of the paper, the paper will get stuck in the tray and a loud plastic snapping noise may be heard when feeding paper.

3. Move the tray lock button to the lock position (slide the button towards the paper).

4. If there is no paper in the tray, reload the paper.

When printing from Tray#1 or Tray#2 :

The tray can hold up to 250 sheets of 20lb paper. Do not overfill the tray. There is a maximum paper mark located on the top of the right and left paper guide. It looks like a V cut out in the plastic.

Note

If you are using special paper and the machine has problems feeding it from the paper tray, try the paper again using the manual feed tray. Make sure you insert the paper far enough --about 1 inch- under the gray plastic bar in the MP Tray until it stops or it will not be fed and the machine will display the message "No Paper".

5. Verify the correct size and type paper is being used:
When printing from Tray#1 or Tray#2 :

If you are printing from a PC and using the paper tray, make sure that MP Tray is NOT selected in the application's print properties for Paper Source.

When printing from MP Tray :

If you are printing from a PC make sure that the MP Tray is selected in the application's print properties for Paper Source.

Note: Please be aware that the setting in the printer driver will take priority over the setting made on the control panel.

14. If you have set the Tray Use settings for a particular tray, the machine will feed paper only from that tray. If the selected tray is out of paper, a "No Paper" message will appear on the LCD. You need to reload paper in that tray.
To set the Tray Use setting, follow the steps below:

a. Press Menu.

b. Press the up or down arrow key to select General Setup.

c. Press OK.

d. Press the up or down arrow key to select Tray Use.

e. Press OK.

f. Press the up or down arrow key to select the mode you want to use.
You can select Copy, Print or Fax(MFC users only).

g. Press OK.

h. Press the up or down arrow key to select the tray.
You can select Tray#1 Only, Tray#2 Only or MP Tray Only.

i. Press OK.

15. For MFC users :

To test, print the Help List.

. Press Menu.

a. Press the up or down arrow key to select Print Reports, and press OK.

b. Press the up or down arrow key to select Help List, and press OK.

c.Press Start.

For DCP users :

To test, print the User Settings.

d. Press Menu.

e. Press the up or down arrow key to select General Setup, and press OK.

f. Press the up or down arrow key to select User Settings, and press OK.

g. Press Start.

Note

If the problem still continues after following the above instructions,

I recommend you clean the Separation Roller, Pickup Roller and Separation pad following the instructions of the FAQ: My Brother machine mis-feeds paper.

Tray which printer prints from.

Just had this problem and stumbled upon how to fix it. Check the guides in your tray 2. Our back guide was slightly off of the proper spot for letter size paper. This was causing the printer to think the tray had a custom size of paper in it. Your document is probably trying to print on letter size paper and when it doesn't think the paper is in there it switches to tray 1.

Sharp AL-1631 bottom paper feed will not pick up paper.

A few things could be the problem.
  1. The paper in tray could be damaged
  2. The drawer separator pawls (metal taps on the right side of tray where paper touches)
  3. Paper backstop not in or in wrong spot (green plastic piece at back of paper)
  4. Feed tires are worn or dirty
Does the copier try and feed from tray 2? If it tries but the paper doesn't leave the try look and see if there is a dark mark on the page (top middle towards the right). If so then most likely the feed tire is worn.

Hp 4250 manuall feed heavy paper message

You'll have to set up the paper settings within the copier to reflect heavy paper for the bypass tray. You'll need to make this a default setting. Then when you print out with heavy paper via the print drivers it should pick up automatically at the printer.

LaserJEt 2100

Hi, try this.
Feed paper in tray 1.
If this works fine you better replace the roller and separation pad in tray 2.
To test where the swath of ink is comming from try this:
Feed papaer in tray 1.
Send a printjob. As soon as the paper is in the machine open the topcover.
Remove the cartridge and take out the paper carefully.
Check if the swath of ink is all over the side or only there where the paper was in the fuserunit.
If it is all over the side, the cartridge is defective. If its is only there where the paper was in the fuserunit you will have to replace the fuserunit.
Good luck,
Gerrit Jan

Paper wont feed

Sir,
Cleaned the rollers with a slightly damp cloth towel and allowed them to dry for one hour.
2. Made sure the paper is laying flat and is not pushed too far into the printer.
3. Adjusted the arm in the paper tray so that it's snug against the paper but not squeezing or smashing it in any way.
4. Unplugged and rebooted the printer (four times)
5. Made sure the tray wasn't too full (there are about 50 sheets in it now).

Thanks
Good Luck
