This is not a solution, but a start. There should be a tech sheet somewhere with the dishwaser. Often it is stuck to the back of the kick plate. In this, or possibly in your owners manual, there should be a list of "error codes" This should explain what the seven flashes mean.

The dishwaser has a Anti-Flood device (a polystireene block) on the floor of the dishwaser that activates a micro switch if any small amount of water is on the floor of the washer for any reason. This switch automatically puts the washer on PUMP OUT mode and does flash the error mode and does not work. Find out what causes the water on the floor and that will be the reason for not working...
if you have a row of buttons on the left side for heat cycles check them a shorted switch will cause a loss of current situation so that the drain solnoid wont activate
are we talking about a drain pmp for a whirlpool dishwaser??? if so it simply pushes against the sump houshing and with a quarter turn clockwise "snaps" into place
