I have Optima 45 staples in my stapler and if I try to staple it will do it once and then the next one will not staple. It sounds like it did but nothing comes out.

If I open it again it will do the same thing. There is no jam that I can see. What should I do?

SOURCE: electric stapler won't staple

On the side of the stapler are the instructions - no joke - stick a flathead at the lip of the metal striker and push the flat head up - while pushing the realse at the back - use A LOT of force - that is how ours popped open. It was jammed in the back with several staples that were not visible as a jamb in the front where the staples come out. the whole magazine will pop out when it is freed.

The slide tray is on the bottom of the unit.
to open, you just press the very front button on the bottom.
it should open right up.

SOURCE: Swingline Optima 45 Stapler - cannot slide tray back in stapler, no staples jamming

Sometimes the rectangular insert where the staples sit on, gets dislodged. On the underside of channel insert is a spring and when correctly seated is in between the tabs of the bottom piece. If the insert isn't in between the tabs, it sits too high and makes it difficult to open and close the staple tray. The staples will jam.

Why doesn't it staple?

Disassemble the stapler sufficiently to expose the staple "stick" advancing mechanism and repair it to restore pressure against the stick to advance it.

I have the Swingline Optima 45. I staple once then the light blinks and I have to open where you put in the staples close it again and it will staple once. Then I have to repeat.

Electric staplers are notoriously unreliable, but the problem you describe sounds like buildup of the adhesive -- a sort of varnish -- used to hold the staples in stick form for loading in the tool. Remove the staples and apply a light coat of 3-in-1 or other thin oil to the first two or three staples. Reload and cycle the tool. This should help you.

The auto stapling for my Optima 45 won't staple, can it be fixed? It will manual staple, but not auto. Kinda like the motion sensor went out. Any ideas??

Try to take all the staples out then put a small amount of "Two in one oil" as it is very fine oil. Once you have done this wipe off the excess oil if you have a lot spill out wipe with a rag & use the rag to wipe over the underside of one row of staples.
leave overnight & try to use this again with the slightly oiled staples this should remove any oil left then see if this does the trick. (Note I hope you have the correct staples for the machine of course.) Best Wishes Malcolm

Staples will not come out of the stapler.

Did you use Optima brand staples? If not, the stapler will not work correctly. You must use their brand of staples or it will continue jamming, and giving you problems. The staples typically found right next to the Optima staplers in the office supply stores. They come in a rectangular metal box and are labeled Optima staples.

No staples coming out of machines

The Optima line of staplers do not work without jamming continuously unless you use the Optima brand staples. They can be found in the store next to the Optima staplers in a rectangular silver box, and will solve you problem instantly. There is no other brand of staple that will work in this line (I tried numerous), but once you purchase the Optima staples, problem solved, and you'll love it!

Someone loaded regular staples into our Swingline 45 Optima now it will not work when loaded with the correct staples.

Using the wrong or style ofstaples, overfilling the machine and stapling through too-thick materials can causeOptima to jam. Now follow these steps: 1. Holdthe base down as you lift the top of the Optima stapler to access the stapletray. 2. Removeall the staples from the tray so that you have access to the jammed staple. 3. Turnthe stapler upside down and shake it to clear out staples you can't reach withyour fingers. 4. Gripthe jammed staple with the needle-nose pliers and, while holding the staplersecurely, pull it up. 5. Twistthe staple until it breaks into two pieces if it will not pull straight out.Pull out the two individual pieces. The Optima stapler line bySwingline is designed to be jam-free when Optima premium jam-free staples areused. Using another , style or brand may cause frequent jamming. Hope thiswill help you. Good Luck.
