Printing tips for paper jam

<b>ThePaper Jam</b> Wehave all had this one happen. You are printing merrilyaway when all of a suddenyou hear that distinctive crunch of paper gettingeaten by your printer. Youimmediately cancel the print job, leap from yourdesk and flip open the printer."Ugh," you say as you notice the crinkled edgesof paper wrapped around godknows what. Okay, so you have found the problem, but what do you do? Thebest way to remove a paper jam is to gently pull thepaper in the direction ofthe paper path-with power off, of course. Whateveryou do, don not pull thepaper backwards. You could damage your printer foreverby doing so!

Lexmark previl pro 705 - paper jams or it says it is jammed when it is not also says paper tray removed when it is not

Try to remove the sheets of paper from your printer. Unplug and re-plug your printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, load some paper but don't overload. Try to print again. If error continues, please contact Lexmark technical support for additional assistance.

My fax machine (Samsung SCX4720F) is saying paper jam, there is no paper jam. I have taken out the paper and tryed cleaning the rollers and i'm still getting the error.

The problem is not in the rollers.
If you removed all paper and the paper jam error is still on, then the problem is with the paper sensor itself.

This might be reset by a service code (which I don't know) or the sensor may need replacing.

It is not a cheap machine, so you may want to spend some money servicing it.

Epson R1800: printing 13x19" velvet paper. hand feeding into rear of printer. keeps saying eror, or paper jam or ... then finally just spits the paper through and out.

why print velvet paper? the problem is the velvet would be too thick and it would jam the print heads because when they run over the paper it would pull the velvet and it would get jammed i don`t think you should print velvet

It keeps saying paper jam why? it is not jammed/

Paper jams are reported under two conditions.

1) Paper reaches a sensor and never leaves it.

2) Paper does not reach the sensor in the time allotted.

A simple test is to put a mark on the next page that should be pulled from the paper tray. If the paper is pulled from the tray, you will find it inside the printer. If the paper fails to feed, it will be sitting in the tray where you marked it.

Saying clear paper jam, I have done, there is no paper jam

Clearing a paper jam in a Lexmark laser printer is an easy thing to do. Laser printers produce high-quality products and are fairly complex machines, but paper jams (in most cases) can be solved mechanically with a little know-how and time. Follow these steps to learn how to clear a paper jam in a Lexmark laser printer.
  1. ep 1 Take the paper out of the paper trays. This will prevent any more paper from being drawn into the printer to further the jam.
  2. Step 2 Remove the cover from the housing of your Lexmark laser printer. This will expose the inner workings of the printer, and you also should be able to see the jammed paper.
  3. Step 3 Pull gently on the jammed paper. In many cases this is all that is required; the paper jam should move out slowly and smoothly.
  4. Step 4 Press the flashing paper jam button. This will allow the rotors to turn freely, which will facilitate the easy removal of the jam.
  5. Step 5 Unplug your Lexmark laser printer if the jam persists. This will allow you to pull more firmly without the gears working against you.
  6. Step 6 Examine the inner workings and confirm that all paper and shreds of paper have been removed. If the paper tore during the clearing, make sure none remains or it will inhibit normal printer function.
  7. Step 7 Plug the printer back in, refill the paper tray and try to print again.
    • Make sure to use a printer and paper type that are compatible. Consult your owner’s manual and the manufacturer’s Web site.
    • To deal with a large jam, it might be necessary to pull sheets from the middle of the jam in order to loosen the whole thing.
    • Always pull the paper “with the grain” of the mechanism, if possible. Pull it through the printer the way paper normally travels so that you don’t go against the gears.
    • For more serious repairs, contact an electronic store or professional repair person.

My printer keeps saying there is a paper jam. But

If the printer is sensing a paper jam, then there is either a small piece of paper jammed under a sensor, or the sensor is falsely reporting a jam.

If you cannot find the sliver of paper, I suggest that you contact Canon Technical Support or take the printer to an authorized repair shop.
