you need to download the drivers so it will be recognized by the computer. go to lexmark support.go to downloads section,find model number and look for win8 driver..

Lost installation disk for lexmark prevail pro705

Please visit the Lexmark website to download and install the Lexmark Prevail Pro705 Printer Driver on your computer. Select your operating system > click on "FILTER" > click on the driver under Recommended Downloads > download and execute the file. Simply follow the instructions on your computer screen to complete the installation.

How do i get a copy of the ocr software disc for lexmark pro705
If you lost the original disk you will need to contact Lexmark. Keep in mind that most of the OCR software they license from other vendors so they may charge you for it.
