Basically. this problem occurs only with printer head problem. Epson Printers uses print head for the entire life of printer unlike with HP and others. That's why, epson faints print even if full ink status is still visible. Try to clean the printer head through the utilities that comes with it on the control panel section. If this doesn't work, try replace the printer head or try it clean by injecting little ink on the pin. make sure not to spoil it to avoid circuitry problems inside the printer head.

Try to reseat your cartridges. Unplug and replug your printer into the power source to reset itself. If that doesn't help, try to clean your cartridges and check if print quality improves. If you're using Windows, go to Start -> Programs -> Lexmark X74-X75 -> Lexmark X74-X75 Solution Center -> Maintenance -> Clean print nozzles to fix horizontal streaks.

Black printing very faint or not at all, cleaning print head makes little difference Brand new Cartridge

Sometimes it will print faint black even if there is a new black cartridge, because the color cartridge needs to be replaced as well.

Make sure that the cartridges are genuine Kodak cartridges, as well, for maximum performance and reliability.

Cleaning heads can use up a lot of ink, by the way.

Cant figure out how to put in the ink cartridges

Hi there,
Procedure for replacing Cartridge
When FIne Cartridges run out of ink, replace them. using the following steps.

*Important
Handling Fine Cartridges
-Once the protective tape is removed, do not touch the electrical contacts or Print Head Nozzles on a FINE Cartridge. The printer may not print out properly if you touch it.
-To maintain optimal printing quality, we recommendthe use of specified Canon brand FINE Cartridges.
Refilling is not recommended.
-Once you remove a FINE Cartridge, replace it immediately. Do not leave the printer with the FINE Cartridge removed.
-Replace empty cartridges with new ones. If you insert FINE Cartidges that has been removed once, the printer may not print properly due to some reasons such as clogging of the nozzles. Furthermore, with such cartridges, tlhe Low ink warning may not be displayed properly.
-Once a FINE cartridge is installed, do not remove it from the printer and leave it out in the open. This will cause the FINE Cartridge to dry out., and the printer may not operate properly when it is reinstalled. To maintain optimal print quality, use a FINE Cartridge within 6 months of first use.
-Color ink may be consumed even when printing a black and white document or when black and white printing is specified.
Color ink is also consumed in Print Head Cleaning and Print Head Deep Cleaning, which may be necessary to maintain the printer's performance.

1) Make sure that the printer is on, and then open the Front Cover.
The FINE cartridge Holder move to the left.
Cautuion : * Do not hold the FINE cartridge Holder to stop or move it.
* Do not touch the metallic parts inside the printer.
Important : If the Front Cover is left open for more than 10 minutes, the FINE Cartridge Holder moves to the right. Close and reopen the Front Cover to return the holder to the left.

2) Remove the empty FINE Cartridge.
a) Push down the FINE Cartridge.
b) Remove the FINE Cartridge.
Important: - Handle FINE Cartridge carefully to avoid staining your clothes or surrounding area.
-Discard empty FINE Cartridges according to the local laws and regulations regarding disposal of consumables.

3) Prepare the replacement cartridge.
a) Unpack a new FINE Cartridge and remove the orange protective tape. gently.
Important : - Handle FINE cartridge carefully to avoid staining your clothes or surrounding area.
- do not re-attach the protective tape once you have removed. Discard it according to the locals laws and regulations regarding disposal of consumables.
-once the protective tape is removed , to not touch the electrical contacts or Print Head Nozzles on a fine cartridge. The printer may not print out properly if you touch it.
-Be careful not to stain your clothes and hands with the ink on the removed protective tape/

4) Install the FINE Cartridges.
a) Insert a new FINE Cartridge all the way into the appropriate slot. The Black FINE Cartridge should be installed into the left slot and the Color FINE Cartrige should be into the right slot.
b) Push up the FINE Cartridges until it clicks into the place.
Important : The printer cannot be used unless both the FINE Cartridges are installed.

5) Close the Front Cover.

Hope this helps. Please rate my response.
Thanks,
Have a good day.

OfficeJet G85 Makes Unreadable Copies

Usually, it's the print cartridge. I recently installed a new black cartridge on a 6110 printer and it, too, was very faint in printing. It turned out to be "dried up", even though it was a new cartridge in a sealed bag (but purchased in 2005).

Faint Printing

It could be a old ink cartridge was installed even if you just bought it check the date. The jets maybe clog from the previous ink cartridge if it was not used often. If the date is good I would go into the utility settings on the printer and do a print head cleaning.

My HP 990cse deskjet printer prints in very faint ink, even though I have just put in 2 new ink cartridges. What happened?

Make sure you have a tri-color and a black cartridge installed. Make sure the print quality is not set to draft mode. Only use HP inkjet cartridges and not refilled cartridges. Make sure you are using the correct driver for your operating system.

Deteriorating Print Quality

This is Maltesecross. Turns out that the faintness of my printed pages was in fact due to a low ink cartridge, even though some pages printed out fine and others half-good. Eventually, all pages turned faint, and upon re-installing the driver, I got a low-ink warning (the first one ever). Putting in a new ink cartridge solved the problem for me.
