You should keep the cancel button (just on side of color buttons) and then the led screen will show 1 and then press the copy button (black or color). it worked for my printer, hope it works for you

SENDY Rachdy
, I have a solution

1: turn the printer off
2 While pressing down the stop / reset button (denoted by triangle within a cycle), press the power button and hold the stop / reset button until the power indicator lights, continue to hold the power button and release stop / reset button
3: Continue to hold down the power button and press stop / reset button 6 times, alarm indicator turn on and off as you
4: Release all buttons, the printer is now in the service mode
5: tool v1074 download below website and extract the file once downloaded and run the file to open the page of the service tool
http://printertools.blogspot.com.au/2010/12/servicetool-v1074.html
6: to the top of the page find the "clear ink counter" and click on the "Main" button now scroll down the page to find "against ink absorber" to the left and right of the "cons-value "ensuring ink absorber counter box reads" main "and the counter reads" 0 "now click on the knob to the right of the box the counter.
also
7: The printer will now make a little noise and allows you to print a page of paper, you will also get some instructions that appear on the screen of your computer to warn you that the process was completed just click on the request.
8: once this is complete turn off the printer, wait a few seconds and turn it back on and your back in business, at least I was, I hope it works for you too

My black ink has run out but even after I set it to print from color only, it prints me a blank test page?

Are you sure the color ink hasn't dried out?
Pull the cartridge and carefully wipe the print head across a facial tissue or paper towel. Don't touch the metal contact points on the cartridge as sometimes the smallest static charge can destroy the cartridge.
Depending on the printer, setting it to color it may use only the color cartridge, but more likely it will use both the color and black to make up the print. Setting to black and white, not grayscale will force it to use only the black cartridge.

Here is an explanation, much like I suspected, and a cure.

I cant print it says I'm out of black link and I just replaced it and it's flashing E 1 6

From http://www.refreshcartridges.co.uk/igloo/clearing-canon-pixma-error-message-e13-e16/

Locate the STOP/RESET/RESUME button on your printer which is represented by a triangle within a circle on the body of your printer and is usually in red, white or black as pictured below. With the reset button located hold it down for at least five seconds and then release it.

How do i reset the ink levels

You can't reset cartridges ink levels. You can only "ignore" ink levels. If you see E13 or E16 error codes on printer screen, Press STOP key for 5-10 seconds.

My canon MP280 printer keeps giving me an error number P02. There is nothing stuck in the printer, plus I put in new ink cartridge to see if that made a difference. What else should I try?

I had the same error, did the reset and only got another error, e04. I then removed and carefully cleaned the cartridges and the metal points in the printer that read them. The printer reset itself and worked fine afterwards.
