The brush is driven by two belts and a clutch. Your belts on the clutch are stretched. Their are several youtube videos for rebuilding and replacing a DC07 clutch. Just change the blets don't buy a new clutch. A lot cheaper to change belts. You might as well clean everything up while you gave it apart. Have fun.

SOURCE: DC 07 BRUSH BAR DOES NOT TURN BELT OK

Stand vacuum up and with it plugged in. Rotate knob between carpet and bare floor and back 5 times leaving it on carpet when finished. Rotate vacuum back from upright position and lay vacuum on the floor, rotating it onto its side. Turn vacuum on.

SOURCE: the brush doesn't spin anymore, but the belt is

The belt may not be broken but after 3 years the belt will have stretched and it will not turn the brush. You should change the belt every year. Changing the belt is an inexpensive fix. I would try that first and if it doesn't do the trick I would take it to a repair shop. You can get the belt you need here:

SOURCE: the brush bar wont spin on my dyson dc 25... i

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

Simply switch the machine off and stand it upright. Press the brush bar on/off switch once and then turn the machine back on.

When you release the machine into the vacuuming position, the brush bar should start to turn again.

If you still having problems, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

I have used my dyson dc39 perhaps a dozen times tops and the brush bar won't stay spinning. I've stood it upright and turned it off, clicked the brush power button. Spins then stop-makes pop sound.

If it's like my DC-07, the brush shouldn't spin if it's upright, and also won't spin if you don't have the clutch for the brush fully engaged. Make sure that the back of the unit is tilted off of the fully upright position, and check that the brush clutch is all the way engaged - there may seem to be a middle setting, but that isn't really where you want to be. Hoping that helps.

Should you ever have to replace carpet brush roller. Does it wear out.

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

The brush bar bristles on Dyson vacuums are made of hard-wearing nylon, and when the machine is used and maintained according to the User guide, we wouldn't normally expect the brush bar to need replacing. If the machine is used for extended periods with threads, hair or other obstructions wrapped around the brush bar, this could accelerated the level of wear the bristles experience.

If you think your machine's brush bar needs replacing, it would be worth contacting our experts first for some advice. They'll help you check that the brush bar is definitely the cause of the issue, and that there are no other underlying issues that could be affecting performance.

When you have your machine easily to hand, please give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

Hopw to fit new belt

DC07s have two drivebelts that turn the brush bar - one connects the output of the motor to the clutch, the other connects the clutch to the brush bar.
You can check the latter simply by removing the sole plate and looking. Unfortunately the other belt is hidden under a plastic cover, so you cant see if it is okay or not without some dismantling. This cover is not easy to remove and requires a Torx driver to under the securing screws.
If, after removing the cover, the other belt is okay, if your brush bar isn't turning then you have a faulty clutch. New clutches are available on eBay reasonably cheaply, but again good tools and DIY skills are required.
Have a look atwww.dysonmedic.com which has some excellent info on dismantling and repairing a DC 07.

I cleaned the roller on my Dyson DC 07, and after reassembly, it makes a sound like the belt is being chewed. I took it apart a couple times, goes back together fine, but still makes the noise

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

Your machine is designed to make this ratchet noise if the brush bar is obstructed. We would recommend checking the brush bar and soleplate area and removing any blockages or hairs/threads that are wrapped around the brush bar.

Full details on these checks can be found in our Support section online at www.dyson.com.

Replace dyson 07 animal brush roll assembley

The end caps of the brush assembly which contain the bearings are only a push fit onto the spindle (quite tight). Remove these and the brush bar will pass through the drive belt loop. To achieve this the belt has to be stretched slightly so care has to be taken not to over-stretch what might be a belt getting to the end of its life. When refitting the end caps do not forget to aline them properly so they fit into the sole plate recesses correctly.

I cannot see at the moment how to replace the drive belt on the DC 07 without significant dismantling (that will probably be my next job) I do not see the use of the Dyson tool you offered.

We have a dyson dc 07 animal the machine was working fine then switched off after returning to the machine minutes later it wouldnt switch on, i removed on off switch cover and used a short piece of wire...

It could be the motor. I'm having to replace the brushes on my DC 05. It appears that you can only get brushes for the YDK motors in the DYSON, not the Panasonic motor. Which might be saying something about the YDK motors. What happens is that the carbon brushes wear down which is normal. However, the contact wire from the brush to its connector is set so that when the brush wears down, the wire is short enough to stop the spring etc from damaging the commutator. The end result is that you get an intermittent operation of the motor before it finally dies.
I believe all the DYSONs come with the option of both motors and you cannot really tell which motor you have until you take the thing to bits. You also cannot change motors without changing various other parts on the hoover. On my DC 05 the writing on the YDK motor tells you which one it is.
This website www. tasweb.org ,select the DC 05 option and scroll down tells you how to take the thing to bits. A search on google etc for your DC 07 may give similar results. Best of luck!
