My dyson keeps cutting out. It's like a pulse noise and works intermittently.

I've washed the filter, bought a new filter, checked the charger. If I take the filter out it works constantly, but when I put it back in it works intermittently again.

This solved my problem, great and thanks. The bin inlet door was jammed, so I just pushed it from the outside, freed it up, and now the motor runs continously.

I had the same problem cleaned it all and it was still doing it, then I discovered there is a small flap inside the unit where the pole part connects to the vacuum that was stuck, I gently pushed it with my finger it came unstuck, connected the pole and its started working perfectly again.

I would suggest that this is a blockage of some kind as the pulsating is caused by a lack of airflow (the motor is protecting itself by pulsating and then ultimately cutting out).

Furthermore, I would check the bin inlet to make sure that the one-way door/flap is not jammed as this also can cause the problem.

brilliant....not only do i now have a sparkling clean dyson from all the other tips i followed, it now fully functions thanks to that "try the bin inlet" tip: as simple as that!

This is also covered in the Dyson V7 Instructions (supplied with the machine) Page 8. Pity Dyson produce machines with a wide pipe that then channels all the dirt through a half inch wide slot

When you take the filter out look for a small pressure switch where the filter pushes on it. Sometimes it gets dust on the press switch. As well as a very small dust censor that looks like a small tear drop shape. It is usually pressed into a small track made on the body of the vacuum near the filter holder. Lift it up a little out of the track and take a clean coth with no soap or cleaner on it and wipe it clean and slide it back in. NOTE: cleaning hep filter can clog up a filter. And interfere with the sensors on the vacuum. Replace filter's with new ones if above fails to work for you. Good luck. T&B ELECTRONICS.

Hi, you have a restriction of Airflow. This is caused by either an obstruction or a general build up of debris. In order to find the blockage you will need to take the machine apart. Check each part from the floor head to the bin. Common areas that block are the head unit and entry to the bin unit and exit into the bin unit.

Help my stain cordless is showing a blue light and it keeps cutting out , Iv followed instructions on here about possible causes ,blockages, washed filter etc but still no good

Dyson wireless hand held whirring sound intermittently with no suction as a result. Dust compartment empty ? Anyone ?

Dyson cordless vacuum are engineered to make a pulsing noise, then to shut off for protection, if something is preventing airflow from passing through the machine. If this is occurring, it's likely there's a blockage somewhere in the floor tool, wand or bin inlet. It's also a good idea to check the bin inlet flap can open and close freely, and isn't jammed in place by debris.

We recommend washing the lifetime pre-filter at least once a month using cold water without detergent, so please give this a try if the filter hasn't been washed recently.

Why havemy dyson DC 59 has stated to pulse on and off after afew seconds of working?

DC59's motor will make a rapid pulsing noise to warn you if something is stopping airflow from passing through the machine. The motor will then shut off for protection.

This should be quick and easy to resolve by checking the motorised floor tool, wand and bin inlet for blockages. It's also a good idea to give the washable pre-filter a rinse in cold water if this hasn't been done recently - we recommend washing it at least once a month. Make sure the filter is allowed to dry completely for at least 24 hours before replacing it.

My vacuum was making a funny noise and had a bad smell

Most Dyson vacuums include a thermal cutout which shuts the machine down for protection if it starts to overhead. You should find it will run again after it's cooled down for around 2 hours.

This is likely to have been caused by a blockage, or because the filter is overdue for a wash. The valve you've described is the suction relief valve. This will open when something is restricting airflow through the vacuum cleaner.

In normal use, we recommend washing both filters at least once a month, as shown in the video above. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for both filters to dry completely somewhere warm before replacing them in the machine.

My dyson d14 animal keeps cutting in and out. When it's on, the hole above where the filter is, keeps making a loud suction noise and it won't clean up hair and dirt.

Vacuum Cleaners require AIr-Flow. Your machine is not getting any air-flow. The noise you hear is a valve opening up to prevent your machine from overheating and burning out the motor.
You probably have an obstruction somewhere in the machine. Dysons are kind of known for that in the vacuum cleaner world.
Check all air channels and clean them out. If that fixes the problem you still might have issues that caused it to clog up.

I posted the part second because it takes 24 hours to complete it.
Be sure you wash your Washable Pre-filter. It needs to dry for 24 hours. Never put it back in the machine wet.

Once it is completely dry reinstall the pre-filter and your machine should be back to normal operating functions.
