My printer refuses to print in black without having all 3 colour cartridges full. I rarely print in colour so I would expect to change the black cartridge more often. Does this mean that the printer isn't set up to print in black even though the black cartridge is completely fine to run? Is there any way I can get around the problem and program the printer to print in black using only the black cartridge?
I 've bought already 2 Magenta Cartiages but it always says X on it. whats the problem. Office Max don't replace it any more.
This printer does not let you print if even one of the cartidges is out of ink. I suggest you replace them and then in the printer properties change your settings to the way you want color to be spent.

I have a full cartridge of blue magenta and black, my yellow is gone. I needed to print an important documant yesterday and couldn't because my yellow is empty. On my last printer which was a lexmark, if one of my color cartridges were empty, it wouldn't allow me to print in color but I could still print in black. I guess this is how they make their money.
I dont want to buy other cartridges, I only want to print in black :(
I am very disappointed with epson printer !
I have a epson cx5000. Black is 3/4 FULL and color is out. I only want to print in black & white but it is forcing me to buy more color. I will never buy or recommend anything epson forever. I don't even care if they fix this issue in the future.
