Printer not detected when plugged into USB port. Tried multiple PC's and cables with same result. I get an "I/O Card Not Ready" error when I print diagnostic. I also just noticed that my LCD display has gone blank. Any suggestions?

First I would recommend unplugging the machine.
Then reseat the formatter assembly.

The "I/O card not ready" is the network card which is plugged-in to the formatter. That card is for networking purposes. it will display not ready if their is not a cat5 cable plugged into it. On the first page of the configureation you should see the last 3 error codes. usually located on the left hand side half way down. if you are see 49X.XX errors you probably need to replace the formatter.

However the control panel blanking out could be several options:

First I would make sure it's not plugged into a surge protector. (HP recommends NOT to have any machine plugged into a surge protector),
Try a different outlet. if that fails that could revert back to either a bad control panel or the DC Controller. Below is a picture of the DC ControllePrinter not detected when plugged into USB port. - 2805da6.gif src="/uploads/images/2805da6.gif" alt="2805da6.gif" class="h_mi" />

Can you just tell me whats RAM size of yours . I doubt this issue occurs because of the memory problem. It can either happen in PC or Printer.

My printer is not printing

Standard checks: If you are using Windows system up to Vista: Check all these:
Power cable, USB or LPT serial cable, the port to where you are printing in the printer properties configuration, (right click the printer icon) - (computers with multiple USB ports: unplug and plug into a different USB port and watch the printer icon change to ready in the computer/system/printers window- very subtle). Sometimes stored print commands from several days ago will begin printing.
Check cartridges, error light indications you can research on Google.

when you hook up your printer to your pc via USB...can the computer detect your printer? does it prompt out any msg such as new device is installed and ready to use or did it ask you to install the printer driver?
if your pc can't detect your printer, replace the USB cable and try again.. and try to plug into a different USB port on your pc.. and if all fails, then most probably your printer main board is faulty...

BJC 80 w/ Vista OS prints 1/2 page and goes to error mode.

Purchase a PCMCIA parallel port card. That's a PC Card parallel port adapter. It provides a native parallel port to laptops that do not have one built in. Works perfectly in ALL cases, even with the scanner cartridge.

Printer doesn't work when use usb parallel converter.

Forget about using parallel converter. Just use the USB cable it works best anyway.

Easiest way is this.

1: Turn printer on. (Green light. ready to print)

2: DISCONNECT the usb cable from the PC.

3 DELETE the Zebra LP2844 & Zdesigner drivers from the printers & Faxes folder. Just highlight them and hit the delet key. Don't worry Iknow what I'm doing.

4: Plug in your USB cable back into PC.

Just sit back and wait, your PC will automatically detect your printer and re-load your driver software.

Epson RX580 Communication Error During Install

Hey...

I ran into a similar problem (okay, the same problem), and my problem turned out to be my USB cable. I was using an extender. When I ran the cable to the PC without the cable extender, my problems disappeared. If you're not using an extender, you might just try a different USB cable.

Hope that helps...

Computer won't recognize USB ports

If you are plugging a USB device into a different port it takes some time to recognize and install it - it re-installs for every port. There could be cable and/or port issues as well. Plug the printer into a USB port that the mouse does work on and allow several minutes for it to detect install it.

Kodak AIO Easyshare 5300 scanning problem

Could be USB connection if you have another cable try it. Try connecting to different USB ports on your PC. If you have a Powerd USB hub lying around try connecting the printer to the PC through that.

Also try disconnecting all USB devices including the printer. Reboot your PC. Connect only the printer and try and scan.

Some times multiple USB devices dont work when they are both connected to the same PC.

Hope this helps!

Samsung ML-4500 with IEEE 1284 to usb cable not working

Windows XP/VISTA (do not install the CD)
1) Plug the cable into the USB port on your computer.
2) A prompt that says "Found New Hardware" will appear. Windows will then install the USB printing support driver automatically. You do not need to install the driver from the CD.
3) Plug the cable into the printer.
4) If your printer is already installed, click on Start, then Printers & Faxes. Right click on the printer you are connecting to and click on Properties. Click on the Ports tab and check the ‘Virtual printer port for USB’ port. Click OK.
5) You should now be able to print.

With XP, the biggest clue is to FIRST plug the cable into the usb slot, THEN the other end of the cable into the printer.
