Maybe try to reset the whole device (or is this not an option because there are files on there that you need?) I found a link to garmins official help page: How do master reset my Forerunner 410 405CX or 405 I hope that after resetting the device, it will work again.
Good luck!
Please restart the computer and while it is booting enter into safe mode by pressing f8 repeatedly. It will eventually it will ask you to enter safe mode. Enter safe mode option(not with networking or anything else) log back in. See if the computer freezes at this point. If it does not freeze after being on for an extended period it is more then likely a bad windows install or a virus. If it does the same thing we could be talking hard ware issues.
Try this - Reset the device
1. Slide and hold the Power switch up for approximately 20 seconds.
2. Release the Power switch.
3. To turn the player on, slide the Power switch up then release instantly.
Or you can try to force MSC modes
1. Turn device OFF.
2. Slide the Hold switch down to Lock (orange color showing).
3. Press and hold the center button while connecting the device to the PC.
If none of this helps you might need to reload and update to the latest firmware
or try and force recovery mode.
1. On your Sansa player, press and hold the Power/Menu button for 15 seconds to turn the device completely off.
2. Slide the Hold switch so the orange portion shows.
3. On your PC, double-click My Computer
4. On your Sansa player, press and hold the REC button while connecting it to the PC.
5. Release the REC button when a 16MB-FORMAT drive partition appears under My Computer.
This may not work on your player not sure of the Model cut off.
Turn off the switch at the back of your ps3. Turn it back on. hold down the power button for about 5 seconds until the ps3 will turn on and then off automatically. let go and then press and hold the power button again. it will beep once, then twice. Once it beeps twice let the button go. ps3 will show a new menu. Choose option 3 to restore file system. Your ps3 might do the restore twice in a row and then it will work. None of your files will be deleted.

this should work
if not please do let me know ..
It might not be advisable to try to service the laptop yourself. Take it to the nearest Service center. Might be a hardware problem. Or try booting into safe mode and check if everything works well
