Laptop does not detect new Canon printer. Connection/Insert to Printer USB is very loose. Could this be the problem?

Canon ir-2016J not supporting for print. so it will not detect USB. USB can be used for only updating mechine system software.

Connect the printer to your system using the USB cable, power on the printer the power on your computer. when the computer is fully booted and you login, the system should automatically detect the printer as a new hardware. Insert the CD that came with the printer into your systems CD-ROM drive and install the printer driver following the instruction on the screen.

check first if printer work fine, you can test print it manually, then check if computer communicate with the printer by allowing to remove driver and insert usb cable it must be popup that found new hardware occurred for its detecting printer. reinstall back driver, restart and send print test.

switch off and on the printer and check in system its showing any new device detecting if not detecting change the cable and check.........

change the printer connection to another port and try....

you can check the any usb device working or waht if not working means ......reinstall the usb driver...

I found that some Windows Plug and Play services were note running and were set to start 'manually'. I started those services which seemed related to Plug and Play, and the installation went without further errors.

Hi Bryan,
if you installed the printer by USB, the computer will have installed the drivers for that connection. ( Although USB is Plug and Play ) I,d refer to your user manual regarding bluetooth connectivity, also your printer.
The bluetooth device ( printer ) usually has to transmit signals, to be detected by the Computer. You,ll probably find that if you enable bluetooth on the Laptop. And turn the bluetooth on the Printer ( if Applicable ) by turning on/off or other function ( sync et,c ) the laptop will sense the Printers signal.
Once you have a communication between the two your setup.
I,d suggest unplugging the USB, as the laptops software/hardware, will assume that the printer already has an adequate connection, and will look no further.

Go to the site listed below and download the drivers for vista, on that page you will have to use the pulldown menu and choose your operating system and it will show you a program that is updated for vista. Use that program to install the printer on your laptop.
