It will depend on a few things:

The type of printer/scanner you have (HP, Canon, Lexmark, etc) and the operating system installed on the Mac.

You can find the operating system number by clicking on the Apple Menu (top left corner of the screen) and pressing "About This Mac". In the center of this window it will say "version 10.5.8 or 10.6.2 or 10.something)".

If it's 10.5.8 - that means you are running Leopard, and you may have to download updated printer drivers from the maker of your printer.

If it's 10.6 - update to 10.6.2 (apple menu > software update).

If it's 10.6.2 - restart the computer and disconnect the scanner. Restart it and connect it. Snow Leopard should discover the correct drivers automatically.

After that, all scanning is done in the Image Capture.app (located within Applications > Utilities.

Happy scanning!

Lexmark 2600 scanning to MAC-no can do

Edward, I have this same problem. Were you able to solve it? Anyone, can you help? I have installed the drivers. When I connect the printer to my Mac, it launches ImageCapture and previews the scan fine. But I am unable to get the "scan" button to become active, adn there is no place to save the scan. If I click "save pdf to iphoto" it saves a pdf of the entire screen, rather than just the photo. Appears not to be Mac compatible for scanning purposes. Thank you for your help.

BizHub won't send scans to Macs

first, int the mac must have the "share for windows" checked, in the network settings.
second, you'll have to create a folder name SCAN into the 'home' folder onto your mac. then , you ll have to have your user and password of your mac.
then, you ll have to enter in the bizhub:
- Ip of your mac
- gateway of your mac
- mask of your network
on the copier
- in the utiliy/counter // register 1 touch, book adress, SMB (don t remeber exactly the path .. but just not so far of these paths), :
IP server: Ip mac
path : SCAN
user: user'sMAC
password: password of the user's mac (CAN NOT BE EMPTY)

and ormally, that's all folks :-)

Scanning from Canon MP530 to Mac Powerbook

If you;ve installed the MP Navigator software from the CD, then you should be able to press the scan button on the printer with your Mac connected and the MP navigator will open automatically on your Mac ready to scan. You can also try going into Preview (the Mac app) and from the file menu select Import... and it should open a scan window.  Hope this helps!
