This maybe the spring in the door has fallen off is the latch head very loose in the door if it is it maybe the hook on the bottom of the latch head has broken off, to get to the latch you need to pry the inner door trim off as u do this you will need to lift the the latch head up the trim is only cliped in so if you start in between the 2 hooks of the latch then work your way round the door you should be ok when you are inside the latch then have a look and see if the spring is still in place and not fallen off or loose if it has fallen off look at the bottom of the latch you should see a small hook at the end if this is miss then you need the latch please unplug the unit before you undertake any work on an appliance hope this helps

Frigidaire microwave won't start when door is closed. It looks like the door does not latch properly. It worked 20 minutes ago and last night. How do you troubleshoot and/or fix the switches.

Hello Scott Noble - If I was in your position, I personally will recommend consulting a certified technician first for an accurate diagnosis. Depending on what part(s) is damaged from the door, the microwave could possibly have faulty switches, door switches, or latch which only a professional can repair.

Microwave won't start

I have the same problem. Is the light still on inside the microwave? Mine is on and the microwave thinks the door is not shut. I took the top off of the microwave and the latch needs to push down on a switch once shut. The latch was reaching the switch, but I think some spring in the door, pushing the latches down, has broken since it reaches the switch when closed but there isn't any downward force to flip the switch.
I am trying to figure out how to repair the latch but if your light is on when you "shut" the door, you may have the same problem.

Samsung microwave door won't latch

You will need a Samsung dealer repairman, the inner mechanism will need to be serviced because for some reason it is jammed or there are broken parts.

Why won't my Door on Samsung Microwave latch

If the door latch is fine it is the inner mechanism that is jammed or broken.
