The guide menu keeps popping up and it loses the remote programing. I cleared it out once by pressing several buttons, including the power and mute button simultaneously until I gained remote control again. When I turned off the tv for the night and turned it back on in the morning, it seemed fine, and then the Guide menu popped up again.

Try this. Press and hold the {MUTE} button on the remote control while plugging the power cable back into the outlet. Keep pressing the {MUTE} button until the TV powers on with the Service Menu displayed. Use the {CH+} {CH-} buttons to select menus. If this doesn’t work for you, ask for more answers and include the model number of the Sanyo.

First power off your TV using the remote, then press following buttons quickly on your TV remote:
Display (or i+) + 5 + Volume Up + Power
It'll show the hidden service menu on your TV screen.

Look up the control codes for your DIRECTV remote control.
Make sure your TV is turned on.

To get in to the service mode adjustments

Three digit universal remote code for sanyo are:
004/ 013/ 049/ 108/ 110/ 180/ 209

Four digit universal remote code for Sanyo are:
0049 0097 0110 0004 0268 0012 0108 0180

Direct Code Entry

1. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
2. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
3. Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables. Note: after a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes.
4. With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. Note: If some buttons do not operate your device, try one of the other codes for your brand.

* Point it at a TV set and press the Mute/Power button. (Mute button if TV is already on, or Power button if the TV hasnt already been turned on)

* Keep pointing it at the TV until the TV turns on or muted, most TVs respond in about 5 seconds, the most is up to 20 seconds. (Other universal television remote you find in stores take minutes to program and enter long confusing codes)

Hello, I have had my TV for 3-4 years and have dealt with this stupid guide popping up for the last 2 when I got curious to see if it was something I wanted to use. FINALLY I came across a solution - so far so good but tomorrow it could be back? I did not have the option field some suggested to use. So saw another suggestion for something else and so far so good. When going into the setup guide. Select the USA, place all 0's in the zip code area and NO for everything else.... no VCR no cable, etc.

I also was able to do this without the remote - IF you can get the menu to pop up you just have to use the numbers to select what you need. Found the remote and saw nothing different as far as menu options. Good luck.

Select GUIDE Plus+™ Auto Display from the GUIDE Plus+ menu.
Select Off.
Option C:
Press GUIDE on your remote control.
Select the Menu bar.
Press the right arrow button to select Setup.
Choose Review Options.
Select Off.

I know Option C worked for me!!
