I do not have the remote. I tried what Ketah suggested using the menu button on the front of the tv. When I pushed menu to exit all I got was a blue screen. Changing channels did nothing. So pushed the power button and it would not turn off. The only way I could get it off was to turn the power switch on the surge protector off.
Now all I get is static.
I tried returning the settings back the way they were and still get static.

Hello, I have had my TV for 3-4 years and have dealt with this stupid guide popping up for the last 2 when I got curious to see if it was something I wanted to use. FINALLY I came across a solution - so far so good but tomorrow it could be back? I did not have the option field some suggested to use. So saw another suggestion for something else and so far so good. When going into the setup guide. Select the USA, place all 0's in the zip code area and NO for everything else.... no VCR no cable, etc.
Hope this helps..
I also was able to do this without the remote - IF you can get the menu to pop up you just have to use the numbers to select what you need. Found the remote and saw nothing different as far as menu options. Good luck.

    Hello Me again,

I couldn't let well enough alone. I located my remote control and played around with the guide screen.... not sure if you can do this without the remote. - Anyway - when you are in the Guide Screen - toggle up to where it sorts, selects, etc. If you can go over more to the right on that menu bar - there is a options selection. Choose to "review" your options. There you can select OFF for the auto display. Hope you have your remote. Didn't try it without it.

This was posted on another forum and worked for me. If you don't have the original remote, you should be able to find an RCA remote with the required buttons at the local bigbox.

At the shop, we have turned off the Guide Plus on other RCAs using these three steps.___STEP 1: Choose the Guide Plus Menu (Option 7) from the Main Menu.___STEP 2: Choose Guide Plus Setup (Option 1).___STEP 3: In rapid sequence press these three buttons; MENU, GO BACK, then INPUT. ("Rapid" is considered a fraction of a second between button presses. So, locate these buttons ahead of time.)

The GUIDE Plus+ or GUIDE Plus+ GOLD on-screen program guide automatically comes up when you use the TV button on the remote to turn on the TV. There are several ways to turn off this function if you wish, depending on your model.

Option A:

  • Select the GUIDE Plus+ Menu from the Main menu.
  • Select Setup.
  • Select Options.
  • Select Off.

Option B:

  • Select the GUIDE Plus+ Menu from the Main menu.
  • Select GUIDE Plus+ Auto Display from the GUIDE Plus+ menu.
  • Select Off.

Option C:

  • Press GUIDE on your remote control.
  • Select the Menu bar.
  • Press the right arrow button to select Setup.
  • Choose Review Options.
  • Select Off.

You have to manually go into the menu and program it to not activate. And you must have the remote to do so.

Problem:
Every time I turn on the TV, the Guide is on the screen
Solution:
The GUIDE Plus+ system automatically appears on the screen when you use the TV button on the remote to turn on the TV. You
can turn off this feature by pressing GUIDE on your remote control and then select the Menu bar. Press the right arrow button to
select Setup. Choose Review options and select OFF.

RCA Home Theater Premiere 36" TV comes on automatically

Only two possible reasons I can think of for this--

ONE: you have looked in the customer menu and there is no item listed as Timer?

TWO: Does THIS SET HAVE THE GUIDE PLUS LOGO ON THE FRONT OF THE SET? IF IT HAS THE GUIDE PLUS--YOU WILL FIND IT IN THE MENU ALSO---

LET me know if it has the guide plus feature and I can tell you how to end the problem--most of these the set will come on at the same odd time and usually with volume up high.

Help me remove the Guide Plus Grid on my RCA television

Simply enter 00000 for the zip code and complete the set up process; if you're in Canada, select the USA as your country and use the zip. However, you MUST complete the set up, including allowing the TV to search for appropriate code. In the long scheme of things, location and codes don't really matter because you won't see the GUIDE again.

RCA 27" TV Guide Plus

If you have the set off, and the cable plugged into the back of the set for a day or so, the guide plus should come back. It will sometimes take up to 48 hours. If it does not, there is a problem with the set and will require servicing. Good Luck
