My dc14 animal works fine in Vaccuum mode but when I switch to the extendable tool the sound of the vaccuum changes to a higher pitch noise and I get very little suction through the hose. Any suggestion

Your hose has a restriction. To fix this, use a broom handle and insert it into the hose as far as it will go. If the hose can be removed, take it off completely and do this, if not be careful so as to not damage the sweeper with the handle. another way to fix this is to blow compressed air through it (this is good to do to all vacs to keep them working good) You can get the compressed air from an air compresser or a shop vac or even a leaf blower, but that will take two people. Once you clear the blockage the sweeper will work fine again. best wishes!

Why has our dyson dc14 started to sound out a high pitched whistling noise and lift the exhaust filter breaking the lid ?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

A whistling noise from your DC14 could suggest a seal or component is out of place. I'm sure we can help trace the issue, and it may be a simple fix.

When you have your vacuum easily to hand, please give our experts a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

When I try to vaccuum the brush doesn't rotate. I've made sure that it is in the right position

DC14s have two drive belts that turn the brush bar - one connects the output of the motor to the clutch, the other connects the clutch to the brush bar.
You can check the latter simply by removing the sole plate and looking. Unfortunately the other belt is hidden under a plastic cover, so you cant see if it is okay or not without some dismantling. This cover is not easy to remove and requires a Torx driver to undo the securing screws.
If, after removing the cover, the other belt is okay, then you have a faulty clutch. New clutches are available on eBay reasonably cheaply, but again good tools and DIY skills are required.
Have a look at www.dysonmedic.com which has some excellent info on dismantling and repairing a DC07 (the DC14 is very similar to the DC07), but unless you have access to such tools, and feel confident to tackle it, it's probably time to call Dyson or a Vacuum repairer.

Not picking stuff up and no suction in hose as well, suction sounds good until you go to vaccuum floor

Because this unit is bagless there are more gaskets to seal the suction portion of the vac. you are most likely missing a seal, can you remove the basket and place your hand near the suction on the vacuum? it is shielded so you wont lose fingers. if there is suction there, look at the bottom of the basket for a gasket, same for the top

Dyson making loud noise

If your brushroller isn't spinning it will make the loud sound. Try removing the brushroll and reinstalling it. If this doesn't work, you may need a new brushroller. You can find one here...

DC 17 Animal No suction on hand held hose

There is likely a blockage in the pipe. Try pushing something through taking care not to perforate the pipe.

Kenmore progressive vaccuum

Did you replace the hepa filter with a new one? Those filters may not look bad, but after a period of time and use, air is restricted thru them. They should be changed at least once per year.
