SOURCE: HP Photosmart 3310 does not recognize paper in tray

This is usually do to a sensor, your correct on that, thers usually a plastic piece that indicates theres paper and its broken or worn.

The other thing is that it may be the little rubber grabber is worn and not grabbing the paper, so the printer thinks thers no paper because nothings going through. These parts can be orderd but are usually costly depending on the printer. If its under warranty, take it back.

Also, check the trey and make sure it isnt a I.D.10.T error and you just set the paper to legal or something. I've made that mistake before.

Remove your tray.
Push it from the back and make it sure it's tight against the paper.
Move the blue button to the "unlocked" position.

Should be good to go!

SOURCE: Printer will not print

I had the same problem and to fix it there was a blue tray I had to pull out (the tray for the photopaper). Once it was pulled out so it was about flush with grey part beside it, the printer worked again. (The photopaper tray is just above where you put the regular paper.)

I can't get the bypass tray to recognize the right size paper. I switched the bypass tray with another machine and the copier will still not recognize the right size paper.

After loading the tray, make sure to select the correct paper type at the control panel.
  1. If the Tray Mode is set to Fully Adjustable, the printer prompts you to set the paper type and size.
    1. If the paper size and type are correct, touch OK.
    2. If the paper size or type are incorrect, change the settings.
      1. To select a sheet size, touch the current size setting. Then from the list, select the size.
      2. To select a paper type, touch the current paper type. Then from the list, select the type.
      3. To save the settings, touch OK.
  2. If no prompt appears when paper is loaded, set the paper type and size.
    1. At the printer control panel, press the Home button.
    2. Touch Device > Paper Trays.
    3. To open the Bypass Tray menu, touch the Bypass Tray icon. It is displayed in the top position, before the numbered trays.
    4. To select a paper or envelope size, touch the current size setting. Then from the list, select a size.
    5. To select a paper type, touch the current paper type. Then from the list, select a paper type.
    6. To save the setting, touch OK.

My printer wont recognize paper

Remove all of the paper from the tray and shine a flashlight into the printer. Look for any torn pieces of paper or other debris that could be blocking the paper sensor.

Pull the paper guides back as far as they will go, then reload the paper tray. Push the paper guides until they are tight against the paper on all sides. If the paper guides are loose or not properly adjusted, the printer may not sense that the paper is in place.

Look inside the printer if you have a unit with a single paper tray. Locate the print rollers, then look for a small plastic flag that moves up and down when the paper feeds into the printer. Jiggle this paper flag until it moves freely. If the paper flag is out of place the printer may not recognize that there is paper in the tray.

Pull each tray out of the printer carefully if you have a unit with multiple trays. Find the print rollers and the paper flag. Jiggle the paper flag until it moves up and down freely, then replace the tray.

Our imagerunner 5000 doesnt recognize full tray 1 or full tray 2, we have to use tray 3....what causes this?

I don't know if this may be a bit to late???? Have you looked behind the the top two paper trays for any paper wedged behind the trays them self? There are switches behind the tray for paper present and paper size.... You may also have broken switch in the back of the copier..... There could be a few other things..... Good Luck

When i replace with new original 818 color and black/white ink cartaiges the ink status show as b/w full and color iswith"x" mark(no ink) and printer can"t take paper i also re load the driver software

If there is an "X" on the color cartridge indicator then there is a problem with it. If you have removed the plastic tape that covers the part that connects to the computer and you still have this problem then the cartridge is defective and needs to be returned to the store and exchanged for another that is good. Exchange the cartridge and install the replacement. This should solve the problem with the printer not recognizing a full color ink cartridge.

You mentioned that the printer cannot take paper. Please clarify what happens when you load the paper tray and try to print? Are you loading paper one page at a time using the external feeder or are you loading the paper tray full with paper before trying to print? If your loading page by page or filling the tray with only a few sheets of paper then try loading a bigger amount of approx 1/2" of paper. It is easier for the printer to grab paper when the try has a good amount in it. If it still will not load the paper when the tray is full and inserted correctly, please advise what happens when you try and print - exactly? Does the printer respond to the print command sent from the computer? Does it make attempts to load the paper and then fail and stop? Does it pick up paper and then show a paper jam? Does the printer do anything when trying to print from your computer? Answer these questions and I will help you solve this problem right now.

Paper wont feed

Sir,
Cleaned the rollers with a slightly damp cloth towel and allowed them to dry for one hour.
2. Made sure the paper is laying flat and is not pushed too far into the printer.
3. Adjusted the arm in the paper tray so that it's snug against the paper but not squeezing or smashing it in any way.
4. Unplugged and rebooted the printer (four times)
5. Made sure the tray wasn't too full (there are about 50 sheets in it now).

Thanks
Good Luck

Standard top bin full remove paper

Greets!

Firstly, is the exit bin full of paper? If it is, just remove it.

If not, then it's going to be a sensor that recognizes the paper amounts in the exit tray. Check for broken plastics and possibly stuck plastic flaps in the exit tray.

If it's neither of those, try turn it off, unplug, then reverse.

Other than that, if no go, then it's an internal sensor issue. At that point, probably the best bet is to replace as repair costs would outweight a new unit cost most likely.

Dell Printer 1600n

Check your manual feed tray. The printer may have a print job in memory that's pointing there.
