How can I reset a drum of printer brother model mfc-8860dn

    Hello,

I think I have the same problem. I was getting "Drum near end" error so I have replaced the drum. But still I get the same warning and I see "0%" when I look at the parts life in the device menu. I have called the service but they refused to tell how to correct this problem. I guess they want to get money out of it for such a small issue but I won't definitely pay anything. Either I will find the solution or I will keep printing like this. Anyway, I can print well without any problem right now. Just the message is quite annoying.

Any idea? How can I tell the printer that I have replaced the drum and everything is good and fine?

    Regards,

    Erol

Drum error means dust on drum usually. Take out the drum/toner assy and there is a blue tab on top of the drum that slides back and forth. Slide it back and forth 10+ times and this should solve this issue. Make sure to put the tab back into the original position. Put the drum/toner back into the machine.

Good luck!

Not really. Already did this, drum life reports 96%. It just printed 1 page and then got the error again.

I've got this same thing happening on several MFC-8860DN units. We replaced drums, reset the drum counter by the procedure above, there's 96%+ life left on the drums, the Drum Error appears again. I reseated the drum assembly in the printer, checked the lever & spring contacts. Did the corona wire procedure so many times I feel like an idiot, power cycled the MFC -- left it off for hours, no change. After calling Brother to diagnose the problem we've replaced 2 of our 3 printers. I have other Brother MFC printers installed at other clients offices with no problems whatsoever. This promblem is chronic and intolerable.

Brother MFC 8660DN "Toner Error Reinstall Drum I got a new drum, new toner and still printer isn't working and show the error reinstall drum unit please help

Pull the drum/toner out and look into the machine, at the wall on your left. There's a little plastic lever there that pivots to detect a new toner cartridge. Sometimes the lever gets sticky; wiggle it to free it up. If you feel brave enough to remove the outside cover of the machine on that side, you can put a dab of grease on the lever's pivot.
