Welcome to FixYa!

Try to print a document. If it does not print, do the following:

1. Unplug the power cable of the printer while it is ON. (Hard reset)
2. Disconnect the printer cable from your computer.
3. Shutdown the computer.
4.Turn the computer back ON after 30 second.
5. Connect back the printer cable to the computer.
6. Plug the power cable of the printer and turn it on.
7. Try to print a document first. If it prints, proceed to scanning.

What we are doing is that we are trying to see first if the printer is establishing connection with your computer. Make sure that the cables are properly connected.

The paper feed kit is the pick up rollers and the transfer rollers. You can thake those out clean them and replace them, but unless you are actually having paper feed issues usually just clean the paper tray feed rollers with alcohol and reset the paper feed kit counter if needed.

Hello , First you have to enter in service mode , then to go to reset menu , and reset pf kit mp an then to live service mode 1. Service mode : menu*2864 , you have to make it fast until the lcd is on : maintenance mode 2. reset menu 88 , now you have to go to pf kit mp and reset 3. Live service menu with 99 or shut down the mfp and after 10 sec restart

Reset MFC 9884 cdw I have used many printer through my working life. The mentioned printer is one of my favourite printer that I have bought from This printer was long lasting one that I have used. Here I am adding reset tips that can help you : To get reset menu- Firstly, Open the front cover of the printer. Then, press and hold the cancel button.In the third step you have to press the reprint button while still holding cancel.Probably, you will find the reset menu here. Then go to the appropriate cartridge on - the menu and reset it and you're done!Now press the "Go" button and the up arrow gives you the parts life reset menu. The problem is the spring that is located below the lever right in front of the clear plastic roller has lost its spring. If you remove the spring and stretch it a bit it will resolve the problem.

To reset the drum counter on a BROTHER MFC-8950DW open the front cover, press the start '*' button on the keypad, the screen will show the reset menu, click drum, click yes, and you will get a message on screen accepted. The procedure listed in the brother manual for this machine is wrong and does not work.

Hi there,
If the display shows drum error you can try cleaning it by following the steps below:
1. Open the front cover. 2. Pull the drum (black) and toner (gray) towards you, put a little force on it. 3. Remove the toner by holding down the tab on the side of the drum, then pull the toner out. 4. Use a dry lint-free cloth to clean the roller inside the drum unit. Make sure to remove any excess toner from it. 5. Put the toner back to the drum, make sure that it clicks, Reinstall the drum and toner back to the machine, 6. Close the cover.

If the display still shows drum error, go ahead and do the drum reset.

1. Open the front cover 2. Press the Options button on the control panel 3. The display should show "Replace Drum - 1. Yes 2. No 4. Press 1 to reset the drum count 5. Close front cover. The display should show the date & time
If still it shows drum error, The drum unit needs to be replace. After replacing the drum unit, do the drum reset again,

Sorting copies using the ADF

You can sort multiple copies. Pages will be

stacked in the order (1, 2, 3), (1, 2, 3)

and so on.

Press the Stop Button to cancel whatever you are doing on it. Then press Copy to be able to copy. If you are printing to it from a computer it should just automatically get to printing when it is sent information.

I had this problem when tried to install network driver to Brother HL-L2340D (exactly InstallNetworkDriver - 3, not InstallNetworkDriver - 1). Tried it several timers, when print spooler service was running. But still got the same error.Finally, i forgot about install wizard and installed driver manually (for my Win2008R2x64, it was DeviceManager >> Install old device >> Manual choice from list >> Show all devices >> Install from disc >> target to unzipped wizard content folder (...install/driver/gdi/32_64) >> select wanted printer model in appeared list >> continue install it.After that, you can install this printer with standart applets of control panel (Printers > Install printer), it successfully finds printer in network and add it to list.So, i still don`t know the reason, but have the solution.

You can also try to send the fax with Real Time Transmission ON so that memory will not be full.
Sending in real time for all faxes
a Make sure you are in Fax mode . b Press Menu, 2, 2, 3. 3.Real Time TX Realtime TX:On
c Press a or b to choose Realtime TX:On or Realtime TX:Off.
Press OK.

I have just made the same mistake on my Brother MFC-J470DW printer. I allowed it to upgrade the firmware, and two of my ink cartridges, which were previously nearly full (and not OEM original equipment), started to display as "Cannot Detect" on the printer display. I contacted Brother and they directed me to a site that basically says you HAVE to use original Brother ink cartridges after the firmware update to version H. In other words, Brother has found a way to limit our machines so that we cannot use non-original ink cartridges. I found a way to work around this problem, but it only works because I have the original cartridges that were nearly empty. You can carefully open the plastic case of the cartridge, being careful to note where the springs are located and to not lose them. Then you can see the reservoir for the ink. You can use an empty syringe, minus the needle, to suck out the ink from a non-oem cartridge. You have to press the upper release prong (spring-loaded thingy at the top of the cartridge) while you suck out the ink into the syringe at the bottom port of the ink cartridge. When you see that the cartridge is empty, reverse the process by squeezing the ink into the original Brother cartridge in a similar manner. You don't have to open the cartridge to do this, but it helps to see the levels of ink before and after. Hopefully Brother has not found a way to make their ink clash with compatible inks so that they damage the printing ports of your printer. I haven't done this on this machine yet, so be careful, because you might destroy the printer so that you cannot even use original inks anymore. Personally, I bought the printer on sale at Staples for $50, over a year ago, so if I ruin it by mixing oem and non-oem inks, then I will just buy a different brand next time and hope for a more ethical company policy on allowing non-oem inks (compatible inks). On this printer, I have used non-oem inks ever since the starte inks ran out. They always work just fine! I get them at Make sure to read the comments at because if you have updated your firmware recently, then Brother has made it impossible for us to use non-oem inks anymore. They do not offer a method to downgrade the firmware! And I cannot find a site to find the older versions. The only download they offer is a firmware upgrade tool, and not the actual firmware versions. Hope this helps.

The waistinktank has to be replaced. DO NOT only reset the code but change the waistinktank! Otherwise ink will flow into the machine and will cause serious damages!!!!!!!! See link how to do that:

My first solotution was to reinstall the printer as a new printer. But that is uncessary. The fix is as easy as changing the IP address the in Port.

The problem is the the IP address for your wirelss is not static. and when it changes, the printer does not recognize the new IP address. When this occurs. go the the printer folder ( in the control panel) and click on 'add new priter'. Then select 'add a network wirless printer . NO NEED TO INSTALL THE just want to see the IP address.

Note the IP address.

GO to the printer, click on the right mouse and select 'properties'
Click on Port
You will see the current port already highlighted.
Click on ' configure port' and change the IP address under "printer name or IP address.
Click OK.

Hi. Here's the procedure.

1) Turn off printer
2) Press and hold menu button and turn on. Keep holding button until you see maintenance on display.
3) Press 88. This brings up parts replacement menu.
4) Press Up arrow until you see the part you replaced (laser, fuser, pf kit1, pf kit mp).
5) Press the OK button.
6) Power off and restart printer.
