I to just upgraded to the Netgear N600 router. No problem with my iMac or 3 Roku boxes in three different rooms, but would not connect to my 22inch Vizio WiFi in the kitchen even though it could see the signal. After 3 days looking on the net, I gave the guest setup on the router a try. It worked! the Vizio sees both signals. Just select the Netgear "guest" and enter the password you set it up with. Works like a charm.
Are you trying to set up router ?
You can set up your router manually, without the CD. Make sure that your computer is able to go online directly through the modem. If your computer is able to go online through the modem, that means the modem is working fine. You will need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router. open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

I am in the UK and have found through experience the Netgear's seem to work perfect on a BT line (equivalent of AT & T)
but not on the cable.
I would suggest purchasing a Linksys by Cisco WRT54GL Wireless-G Broadband Router as these seem to install in minutes,
saves me hours of wasted time when setting up wireless networks.
There are a couple of ways to go on this one..first plug into the router with a netwrok cable, NOT via wireless.
If you have just opened the box on the netgear router you would need to configure some basic settings such as the SSID (name of the router) the country the router is in and maybe some type of security settings...often this cannot be done via a wireless connection at first, you must connect your laptop's netowrk port to a touter port on the rear of the Netgear. Open I.E. and navigate to something like http://192.168.0.1 (look on the sticker on the botton of the Netgear) setup the basics then try your wireless link using the settings you programmed.
