How to manually set up the router from Netgear?

To log into a NETGEAR router:
  1. In your Web browser, navigate to the router login page. By default, one or all of the following URLs should work:
    • or
    • or
Note: You can sometimes find the login URL on a sticker on the bottom or back of the router.

  2. Enter the username (admin) and the password.
    • The default password is password, or for older routers, 1234.
    • If you have already changed the default password, use the password you assigned the router. Passwords are case sensitive.
    • If you have already changed the password and do not remember it, you have to reset the router to factory defaults in order to use the default password. Resetting a router to factory defaults erases all changes you have made to the router's configuration files.

    Netgear router dg834gt

Have look in the router settings for the actual internet connection speeds, as these are a more true reading than the speed check as the speeds can vary at different times of the day and 2 or 3 speed checks can bring different results. your actual connection speed that is showing in the routers settings is the connection you are getting from your ISP. If you are with BT they usually recommend using their latest routers, why i'm not sure, as the only thing i have noted is that the MTU is set at 1500 (Maximum Transmition Units)and in other routers the MTU is automatically set at 1493, so look for the MTU setting and up it if necassary, but not above 1500, also double check all the settings, even put the bt router back in and see if speeds improve, if, you know the BT router is set up purposly for faster connection speeds. Also try checking your speed at a speed test site at a quieter time of day, you will also see different speed check sites give you different speed results.

Belkin f9k1106v1 range extender not connecting

QUICK TIP: When finding a location for your range extender, it is best to place it within the same room as the computer. You can also use to access the range extender's web-based setup page. Step 1: Place the range extender in an area where the Wi-Fi signal of your router is strong, but near where you want to establish your extended network. Step 2: Plug in the power supply of the range extender and make sure that it is powered ON. Shortly, its light will begin to flash blue and orange. Step 3: Place your computer near the range extender. Also, make sure your computer is not wired to any other network devices. Step 4: Connect your computer to the range extender by opening the list of Wi-Fi networks and selecting Belkin.setup. Confirm that the list shows it's connected. Step 5: Open a web browser, enter https://belkin.range into the Address bar, and follow the on-screen instructions. Don't forget to type "http". Once the setup for your range extender is complete, you may connect the computer to its Wi-Fi.
