I have Canon ir5075 and it asks me to change waste bottle. I empty the bottle. But do not know how to tell the printer that it is empty.

I gotcha fixed! The Canon IR3220 uses an infrared beam that detects the waste tonel level. So even if the bottle is truly empty it win't make the copier happy. Look at the "neck " of the waste toner bottle. If you look closely you will see a set of "windows"( Round disks) that the copier shines light through. When the waste toner level rises to the point that it blocks the light then the copier assumes the bottle is full. Now, even though you have emptied the bottle, those disks/windows are still clouded and so the light can't shine through. Clean them with a Q tip or remove them and clean them. You did it!!!!!! You can access the waste bottle behind the right side rear panel. Three screws. The wast bottle will slide out. the error will go away after emptying.

Remove the small cover on the lower left hand side( one screw only) and remove the waste toner bottle and emptied it ensure that bottle neck is not clouded with toner otherwise even the bottle is empty still it will detect waste toner is full .hope this will help

...the waste compartment is same unit in the drum unit...if you know how to take out the drum unit then you can see the waste compartment...but be carefull not to damage the drum...couse its will cost you a lot, the price of a drum is high...and if you can change the blade in the drum unit then you can emptying the waste toner...better call for the expert technician...

to change the waste toner on your IR 5055, stand directly in front of machine and look on the right hand side of it where the power switch is a black button on right hand sdie at the back and you will see 4 screws and a metal plate that will come off the waste toner bottle is in there just empty it out and refit to machine all will work, now on your IRC3170 just undo front door and you will see a clear bottle just undo the black screw and take out the bottle and you will see a couple of little clear windows in the bottle make sure you take them out and clean them before you emtpy the bottle, this is where the machines shines a light through it to tell if the bottle is full or not so make sure you have them clean. refit the bottle and all will be ok

You're going to get a little bit dirt with the trick, but there is no need to buy a empty waste toner bottel

Empty the waste toner bottle inside a plastic bag, the dust is kind of azard!!!, when the bottle is empty, clean it from the outside.
Place the bottle in the printer, (This is just for reference only), in the right side of the bottle you're going to see a plastic tag all dirty (You see it?) OK!!, remove the bottle from the printer, and then very carfully remove that plastic tag from the bottle taking care of not ripping it off, now clean the plastic tag, and put it in place again, and now your printer is ready to work!!!!!
Where's the trick?, The printer has a Photo sensor that is "looking" trugh this plastic tag, when the plastic tag is full of toner, the sensor can't get the signal, and then it says that the waste bottle is full..!!!

If you losen the lower right cover of your machine you will find the bottel there.
This lower right cover you will find on the right side of the machine,it is the lower small cover.There is only one skrew to losen,remove the cover and then the bottle.Empty the bottle and put it back.
