Double-cylinder deadbolt. builder grade schlage. No screws on outside or inside. only access is from panel around bolt that faces door jamb. How do I get this thing out to replace?

faceplate on outside and inside just spin. spinning counter-clockwise. no spots in the brass at all. leveraged small screwdriver under edge of it but no luck. really just bending door. completely sealed. I have no idea of model of this thing but I read somewhere some models have allen bolts only accessible from behind deadbolt plate. I don't see that either.

outside cyl failed. I can easily re-key this, but - how do you disassemble the da-- thing to be able to fix.????? I tried the twist, even used a pipe wrench, no go unless destroy it. Then drilled out to a larger size the two small holes on the inside part. Can see the screws but no way to get at them. In my tool bin I have a dissasembled B362, it has no holes at all - and the beveled covers are stamped and pressed into the bases where the screw go. Go to Schlage site and all you can get is info on the single cylinder model. I do maint. on a old building that has many of these things and I hate to destroy them to rekey, new sets cost big bucks and it is not needed. JUST TELL ME HOW TO DISSASEMBLE THE DA-- THINGS. Schlage B160 - need small screwdriver to insert at bottom of faceplate to pry cover off. Face plate appears flush, but with a penlight you can see the recess at the bottom to pop it off. Screws lie under the cover for disassembly. Seems to be a lock design improvement once you figure out how to remove the faceplate.

Just as soon as I read this I went... oh yeah... this has to be it. I went right out to my lock and used a screwdriver to pry the inside plate off. Gee, and under that were two screws to remove the lock.

Sad part is that I installed this lock some 20 years ago - you would think that I would remember this!

Why won't my schlage deadbolt key go to the neutral spot in the lock position to remove the key?

You likely have the lever that goes from the outside portion of the lock through the striker/bolt assembly into the inside portion rotated into an incorrect position when you insert it into the striker/bolt assembly.

How do i remove the plugs covering the screws on the schlage deadbolt?

Schlage FAQs Schlage
The double cylinder deadbolts are keyed on both sides. On the interior side of the home there are drive pins (sometimes called screw covers) covering up the screws. Recommended method: Indent the center of each drive pin with a nail punch. Then use a carbon tip drill bit (about the size of a pencil lead) and ONLY go down 1/8". The drive pin will disintegrate. The drive pins will need to be replaced as they are no longer usable.

How do I fix a Schlage deadbolt. B60 series will not unlock from the inside unless the key is inserted from the outside

With the door open, remove the interior trim (thumb turn) from the door, and using the key, turn the deadbolt to the locked position. Now re-install the thumb turn, in the locked position, and with the key removed see if you are able to unlock the deadbolt. I suspect that the tailpiece (part that sticks out of the lock cylinder and into the thumb turn) is not in the correct position.

How to remove plugs from schlage deadbolt?

Thank you for your inquiry. These are small plastic plugs on your double cylinder deadbolt. These are just held in through friction. Just take a small screwdriver and pop them out. Factorylocks.com can help you with your Schlage hardware needs.

Double cylinder deadbolt, bolt stuck in jam

You will have to remove cylinders from both sides of door, then stick a phillips screwdriver thru the bolt and push the screwdriver toward the hinge edge of the door.Might take a bit of pressure, depending on how hard its wedged into the jam, and you might break the bolt, but thats about the only way to get it out.try to determine why it got stuck before installing new one.

I have a schlage deadbolt, keyed on both inside & outside but neither have any screws to remove. How do I remove the deadbolt?

There should be caps over two screws above and to both sides on the interior key cylinder. Carefully use a pointed tool to pry them out. This will expose the phillips head screws that hold the two halves of the lock together.

Schlage deadbolt installed about a month ago. The key will not turn the lock from inside but will from outside. Any suggestions?

my guess is that during installation the inside lock cylinders were 1/2 or a full rotation more in one direction than the outside cylinders. remove it from the door, assemble it and try it without installing it. If it doesn;'t work, take it back. If it's old, oil it. if that doesn't work- toss it- you've spent an hour on a $15 item.

I have a Schlage double cylinder deadbolt on security door. If I try to lock/unlock from the inside, it works fine. From the outside, the key turns and turns but the bolt doesn't move. I am trying to...

there are 2 buttons on 1 on either side of inside key slot.. those must be removed... more than likely you will destroy them when removing..under you will find square drive screws or phillips..https://www.schlage.com/en/home/products/B62FFF.html

How do I unmount a schlage keyed deadbolt? There do not appear to be mounting screws on either side of the deadbolt housing.

There should be two hole plugs on the face of the interior deadbolt housing, above the key slot. They must be pryed out to access the screws. Unless it is installed inside out, then the the plugs will be outside. Yes I have seen this before or I wouldn't have mentioned it.
