I have a C7200 Canon Printer that works ok, but once in a while when I turn it on, I get "service call" 142 Fatal Error.
When I turn it off and then back on it goes away. I'm trying to sell this printer and would like to make sure this doesn't happen when I have a buyer looking at it.
Is there something I can do to fix this? or will I need to get a service tech in to fix it.
Thank you

The blinking light with the squiggle symbol is the display for a paper jam. Not sure a service manual will help in this situation other than to be a guide as to where the paper sensors are located. There are usually 3 or 4 paper sensors located in Canon PC copiers. The first sensor will be located between the paper pick up assy and the vertical rollers*(*which are located behind the door on the right hand side used for clearing jams). The second sensor is located under the toner cartridge just before the registration rollers. The third sensor (if present)is located at the entrance of the fuser assy (some models of Canon copiers have omitted this sensor)The last sensor is located at the exit of the fuser assy. I would suggest that you remove the cassette, verify that a piece of paper has not been partially fed or ripped in the pick up assy. With cassette out of machine, open right hand door & verify that there is no jam and check that the flag or arm of the sensor moves freely. Remove the cartridge from machine and again verify there is no jam and the registration sensor arm moves freely. If there is a sensor in front of the fuser assy, verify that it also moves freely. Finally, check for a jam and sensor movement at the exit/fuser. After checking all sensors, unplug the machine and plug back in. (Do this without the cassette & cartridge installed but with all the covers closed) This should give you an install cartridge & cassette message. Install cartridge first. This should give you the install cassette message. Install cassette. If you still get a jam signal when plugging the machine in without the cartridge or cassette, the most likely cause is a blown sensor.(rare, but I have seen it.)If this happens you would then need the service manual to disassemble & repair. I'll keep an eye out for your reply! Good Luck!!!
