I use PIXMA MP287, the carts that i got with the printer started showing the less ink message soon after installation, then I changed my black cart, again it was finished very soon altho the dealer had told me that I cud take 1000 print-outs and even more if i change the settings to grayscale.....still soon the low ink message started to flash...........then i got the carts refilled and since then i only get the low in message and the color test print-out has white streaks.

SOURCE: MFC 640CW not refilling with new ink cart.

Unplug printer from power. Wait a minute. Take all carts out. Plug machine to power. mfc demands carts. Reinsert carts (have a look if they all filled with ink!!). If asked press 2 (No change) despite you use a new cart press 1 Yes cart changed.

Should work!

You either have to pop the top off or drill additional holes.

SOURCE: after refilling my hp deskjet f4185 cart it gives

Try putting in a DIFFERENT cartridge first then back to the refilled one.

HP tried forcing one to install new by imbedding a serial number in the cartridge read by the printer. Once you temporarily change to a different serial number it will accept the old again.

Black ink volume unknown

Problem is you refilled the cart and didn't reset it properly so it looks like a new cart, check your other carts and see if gears or holes are wrong.

Error message reads: left cartridge incorrect.

hello there :

this error refers to the black ink cart not being detected .

possible the new cart has a some fault on it ., u can confirm it by checkin for any defetc , leak on the cart itself or test the printer with another black cart , (if u hav one ).

*if the old black cart is still detected by the printer though the ink is low ...then jus call dell tech support ., with the order # for ur purchase and the cart replaced .

each dell cart u buy has 2 yrs warranty on them .so use them

hav a gooday !

"More Than One Ink Tank Of The Following Color Is Installed"

Try using clean cotton cloth, like from an old t-shirt, and clean the contacts on both the ink cartridge and the seat inside the slot where the ink cart goes. If you clean them both, for each cart color, you might fix this problem.

Be sure that the power is off when you do this first!

DCP 117C Brother ink jet printer: Although ink cartridge is filled, is showing black nearly empty error message. No black is getting through on test printing after head cleaning procedure.

two diffrent errors:

1. near empty. I guess your cart is at full level.: Take cart out. unplug dcp from power. leave scanner open. replug to power. machine will come up and demanding cart. insert cart. close cover. answer display if its changed!

2. press menu then start bk-copy then four times arrow up. machine will be in maintenance mode. press by help of arrow-up and set: 7 (set) 6 (set) 3 (set) start bk-copy. machine will do a power purge cleaning. when finished press 9 (set) 9 to leave maintenance mode. run a test print and set date/time again!

Message: "Ink empty black" --won't reset

this could be because of generic ink carts which do not have the size of the original ones. If so put some paperstrip beneath the cart to lift it up a bit.
Anyway, did you tell the printer that you have changed the cart by pressing 1? Look at the display when you insert the cart!

Brother MFC440CN

Did you use generic ink carts? If yes ink has stained the led control. Try to clean it by help of a towel. In some cases this will help. If not, the led control needs replacing!
Another solution:
Did you answer the question given by printer when changing the cart?

You might take all carts out, unplug machine from power outlet. replug to power. wait until machine demands carts. Place cart in and answer question.

New ink cartridge istallation: Brother MFC-240

I guess you d used generic ink carts?!
If yes, the cart holder needs replacement due to ink that has stained the led control. The ink has made a short circuit. The error can only be deleted by replacing the whole cart holder!

Ink problems....

Take all carts out of the machine. Have a look into the cart holder. Is there ink swapping beneath the white plastic? (You might shake the machine ;-)

If yes, the cart holder leaks and needs replacement.

If not (your lucky!) it could be that the automatic cleaning procedure which starts when a cart is changed has soaked the carts empty.

Do set machine with date and time and NEVER unplug NOR use a power switch which breaks the power supply.

Do use constant power and switch off machine by pressing stand-by-fax-button!

Everytime when machine comes to (new) power contact it runs an extensive ink cleaning procedure. thats why your carts are always near empty....
The stand-by will prevent this and machine does some cleaning procedures which consumes only a few drops(!) of ink!

The display asks you if you have changed the carts. Do answer this question by pressing 1 for YES or 2 for NO.
This will reset the built-in inkcountermanagement to the correct settings

Changing ink cartridge

Did you secure the latches when reinstalling the cart? You should hear a clicking sound.

If you had used generic carts before it might be that the cart led control circuit can be stained with splashed ink. This cant be fixed anymore. you need a new cart holder!
