Problem is you refilled the cart and didn't reset it properly so it looks like a new cart, check your other carts and see if gears or holes are wrong.

SOURCE: refilling ink tank

please donot use refilling system it is not for printer
it is new catridge after finishing you can refil for once dont use more times
it depends upon refilling-the quantity-before refilling you should clean with boiling water and then start refilling-if you shake the hands it ink will come out nozziles then use if not see the contacts of the catriges-if not just replace new catridge

SOURCE: COL INK VOLUME UNKNOWN MESSAGE

Something that worked for me, I opened the Conon MX310. took out both cartridges, and for 10 seconds I held the Reset. put the cartridges back in, closed the lid, and again, for another 10 seconds held the reset. SLOW seconds. this reset, ink levels recognised,, and it's working as it should be.

SOURCE: I am trying to scan

The empty ink message (error) stops all other functions on the printer. You must replace the empty cartridge before operations will continue.

tip

Ciss and refillable cartridge systems

Depending on printer brand and model, there are lots of ciss (continuous ink supply system) solutions to buy.<br /><br />Bare in mind, though, if you are planning to use printer heavily, there are other considerations you should think about:<br /><br />1. If not used regularly, an air bubble may occur and it takes a while to pop it up. Also ink may dry in certain area and it's a mess to resolve.<br /> <br />2. The ink supply (depending on supplier) may not be good as the original; color depth and durability wise.<br /><br />3. Cartridge recognition problems may occur from time to another, so it must be removed and inserted again.<br /><br />4. CISS system usually have a chip to fool the printer and it may fail with any liquid contact.<br /><br />5. ink pad inside printer fills quickly on heavy use, thus its wise to direct the pipe into an external tank (found inside and in the back of printer for Epsons) <br /><br />In conclusion, if you intend to have more than 100 pages/month, consider compatibles or refillable cartridges. ciss is good for +200 pages/month.<br /><br />e.g. (epson rx685 blanks out all 6 cartridges except for the black after 10x15 photo's in with high quality enabled)<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">Please note that these tips are based on experience with 4-6 cartridge systems for Canon and Epson printers.</span><br /><br /><br />If you find this informative, kindly <span style="font-weight: bold;">vote positively</span> for me to continue sharing. Good luck and thanks.

Press and hold the Stop/Reset button until the message disappears. You will have to do this every time you insert a "new" refilled cartridge.

I had fully-refilled the ink into the CISS tank of my printer (CANON IP1980) however, the only colors that went out were magenta and yellow only. no black or cyan. the ink from the CISS tank did flow into...

You could try a head cleaning or a deep cleaning. You can find them in your printer properties under maintenance. After a few cleanings, try a test page. Keep cleaning and trying a test page until it prints like it should. If it never prints black and/or cyan, the print head is either seriously plugged or damaged.

I replaced the black ink with a refill cartridge and its saying black ink volume unknown. went back and got a new refill cartridge says same thing...please help?

All cartridges are "tracked", which basically just means that when you run the cartridge down on one printer, if you put it in another it will still appear to be empty. With refilled cartridges, your printer may see it as empty because it has been empty once before. If your printer accepts it and still prints, your best option is just to let it go. Print with it and just ignore the message. You'll know when you need a new one because your printouts will start to fade or streak.

If your printer won't accept it or print at all, you can try performing a hard reset to try and trick the printer into thinking it has a new cartridge.

1. Open the cover and take out the cartridges.
2. With the cover open, unplug the power source from the printer.
3. Wait 20 - 30 seconds for the printer to reset.
4. Install the cartridges and close the cover.
5. Plug in the power source.
6. Turn the printer on and let it go through its regular startup process.

The hard reset option is not a guaranteed fix, but it is a good idea to try; it works on many models and brands very well but there are some that fail to recognize the refilled/remanufactured cartridges after a reset.

Hi my epson r285 with ciss is leaving ink blotches all over my print outs, predominantly black, but less frequent with the other colours. This is only a new printer. Head cleaning, noxzzle cleaning and...

It might be caused by waste ink at bottom plate around head sprayer. For some CISS (bottle) design, ink will flow to head, and then flow to pad, when printer off. So, you must close respiratory hole at bottle when printer is not used. For cleaning, turn off printer (unplug power) when head is not in parking position. Move head to center. Put wet tissue (with cleaner or hot water) at top of pad (at head cleaning mechanics). Move head to parking position. So bottom plate contact with tissue. Wait for 10 minutes, repeat 3 times. Check nozzle.

Dell 926 injection refill kit didnt work

The ink your purchased is likely a cheap watered down version of what your printer is meant to take. You may notice that the ink smears when you rub the page directly after printing. Why you chose to use the blue and red ink to make black blows my mind. These refill kits are insanely cheap and buying the black could not have been much more. Not using black ink in the black cartridge would explain why your print is faded. Also, there is no way to reset the ink levels on this type of cartridge. As long as the printer still prints, just ignore the ink level indicator and print until the ink runs dry. I recommend Cartridge World for ink refills because they use high quality ink to manufacturer specified volumes while still saving you money.

Printer Toolbox Not Recognizing New Black Ink

The Deskjet 6940 will only show ink level for original HP cartrdgies. Refilled or reman cartridges will show as empty or unknown in the toolbox. This is not an issue with the driver, the cartrdige itself has information that it has been previously used and this is not resettable. You can continue to print with a cartrdige that has unknown ink levels, you will just not get low ink warnings.

Refilling Ink in Canon Pixma MP830

Hello, I found this in a repair manual for the MP830. summery is to press and hold the stop/reset button for 5 or more seconds. I copied the info from the manual too. The remaining ink amount unknown. [1683] (Applicable ink tank icon) The remaining level of the following ink cannot be correctly detected. An ink tank which has once been empty is installed. Replace the applicable ink tank with a new one. Printing with a once-empty or refilled ink tank can damage the print head. If printing is continued without replacing the refilled ink tank, press the Stop/Reset button for 5 sec. or longer to record the use of a refilled ink tank. Note: After the above operation, the function to detect the remaining ink amount is disabled.
