Brother MFC 240C alignment problems
I have figured it out! I have a Brother MFC 240CN and I was having the same alignment problem and I followed the instructions from the printer prompt as well as the manual and it does not work.
So, this is what I did. I ran the alignment test print, then when it asked if it matches, I would say "No". And then I would pick number "8" to be the one that most closely matched "0" regardless if it did or not. I did this for the 600 and 1200dpi. Then when I ran the alignment test print again, it looked better! So I repeated it again and again picking "8" each time and it looked better with every test print. After about 4 or 5 tries, it looked normal again!
I hope everyone else with this problem will see this response and I hope it works too. I was getting so frustrated with this problem. Now I don't have to get it serviced or buy a new printer!

Print unable 36 error
The 36 error mean: The machine does not work due to a paper jam. Clear the paper jam, if doesn't work maybe a sensor is dirt or bad. To disassambly the printer you need the service manual and some know how ( electronics knowledge).
All the best !

Brother mfc 240c. just installed all new
Yes, you can manually clean the printhead. I can't provide step by step instructions, but the print head is the piece that your ink cartridges go into. There is probably a lever that holds it locaked into place. You will want to take out the ink, then open the lever and remove the print head. Then clean where the ink cartridges sit, then gently clean any coppor contacts you see and then clean the print nozzles on the bottom of the print head. Do all of this with distilled water. Dry completely and re-install along with your ink.
If this doesn't solve the issue, you can buy replacement print heads.

Easy solution is to download drivers from the brother website. Takes just a few minutes and you should then be up and running or printing.

Take Off Sleep Mode
(same response posted in another thread)
The issue is NOT the sleep mode)/
My first solotution was to reinstall the printer as a new printer. But that is uncessary. The fix is as easy as changing the IP address the in Port.
The problem is the the IP address for your wirelss is not static. and when it changes, the printer does not recognize the new IP address. When this occurs. go the the printer folder ( in the control panel) and click on 'add new priter'. Then select 'add a network wirless printer . NO NEED TO INSTALL THE PRINTER...you just want to see the IP address.
Note the IP address.
GO to the printer, click on the right mouse and select 'properties'
Click on Port
You will see the current port already highlighted.
Click on ' configure port' and change the IP address under "printer name or IP address.
