We just installed new plush carpet and my Dyson Animal will not push forward in it. I can pull it backward but, no way can I push it. The front end seems to just dig in. It is terrible. It is a DC 14 Thanks, George

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties using your DC14 on this particular carpet. We'd strongly advise contacting your carpet manufacturer to check it's suitable for cleaning with a vacuum cleaner equipped with a revolving brush. Manufacturers sometimes recommend cleaning certain types of plush-pile carpeting using suction only.

Make sure brush is spinning properly and that all wheels on base plate are there and spin freely. Make sure bottom of baseplate is clean. If these are all ok you may need a model that offers height adjustment for your style of carpet.

How do I make the machine easier to push forward ?

Dyson will tell you to remove the gaskets from the cleaning head. I have 2 Dysons, both of which became impossible to push after new carpet was installed. I was skeptical, but it worked.

My Dyson - DC14 won't push on my new plush carpet, front end

Same issue: new plush carpet, 7 year old tried and true DC14, wouldn't push across regardless of beater brush on or off. Called Dyson this morning, they suggested removing the small gasket between the floor plate and the assembly holding the beater brush. It's about a 12' gasket just under the screws used to remove the floor plate. Pushing is still a bit stiff, but it is a definite improvement. Whew!

Check the axles of the wheels for debris accumulation. Also, make sure the height is set for the type of carpet that you have. Try pushing the machine on a bare floor--is it hard to move there also? Hope this helps!

My dyson ball vac bounces when I pull it backwards. It works fine when I push it forward.

they bounce because they spin backwards try to pull back slower.

Dc17 Animal - doesn't roll backwards smoothly, it hops or bounces when on carpet

I found that if I pull back too fast, it tends to bounce the front end, I have slowed down on the return trip

DC07 Very difficult to push forward.

on the front of the base there are 3 very small rollers made out of rubber, these are either just dry and won't turn or worn and or damaged,

that is your problem / honest its that simple
