MP700 Magenta horizontal stripes

When I print anything in colour, areas that should be just cyan have a 50% magenta horizontal banding about 3mm apart. Magenta colours also end up with extra magenta bands. Again 3mm on 3mm off.

I have the same problem. Here's the advice I found somewhere on the internet:

If a jet (nozzle) in your cartridge has gone bad you will see horizontal bands and/or white streaks in your print. Print characteristics may appear incomplete and/or the filled in areas on may not show up.
1) Run some warm water over the print head. This can wash away any ink which might have dried in the cartridge print head. Dry the cartridge with a lint-free cloth before placing back into the printer.

2) Clean the contacts on the cartridge (the copper colored circuitry) and the contacts where the cartridge clips into the printer with water or alcohol. After cleaning, insert and remove the cartridge from the printer a few times to be sure you have a good connection between contacts on the cartridge and the printer.

3) If your print is smeared cleaning the wiper blade may fix the problem. Do this according to your printer manual instructions.

Colours are not alligned properly. prints cyan as a shadow of magenta and black

Go to printer's control panel, using arrows go to Reports and print Configuration page. Look at the bottom colored stripes. If some of them fade to their ends (usually magenta and cyan), then your laser scanner unit's mirrors are dusty and need cleaning. To do so remove back cover and side covers. Disconnect all wires and remove the metal frame with the electronic. The laser scanner unit is a black plastic box behind the frame. Remove its screws and open it. Clean mirrors with lint free cloth with isopropanol or glass cleaner.
The dust occures because the main fan at the bottom, next to the laser scanner assy. Remove the fan's gratings and seal with adhesive tape its vents - one at the bottom, one behind the magenta and cyan toner cartridges. This will not harm the printer.

Canon MP510 skips and makes 2 small blank lines going DOWN the pages, in only cyan and magenta. The two lines show up on the Nozzle Check Pattern but only on cyan and magenta.

Banding as they call this and skiped print is probably caused by the the print head being PARTIALLY BLOCKED. Do a nozzle check and check the 4 colour matrix patterns that are printed out do NOT have ANY missing lines. Mine did till I used recovery fluid to soak the head over 2-3 days this cleared the problem completely.

Colour Ink Jet Cartridges emptying during a black ink print run

Hi,
If you go to your printer properties, there should be a setting whereby you have to select the option to "PRINT USING BLACK CARTRIDGE ONLY". Make sure this option is selected, otherwise your printer will use ALL colors even if you only print black.
Let me know if you need any further assistance.
Best wishes,
Graemevm

Canon MultiPASS MP700

I had the same problem. My 4 year old MultiPASS MP700 started banding magenta stripes across everything I printed.
I suspected the cyan printhead was clogged because the printhead tests showed two of the cyan columns as half missing.
Canon was less than helpful. I went off of my suspicion that I needed a new printhead. I found one from an online supplier for 50 bucks...better price than a new printer! I put the new print head in and it works like new.
