When turning the camcorder on it comes up with "press the reset switch" on the screen and it feels like it is trying to eject the tape even though the tape cover is closed. After pressing the reset switch it seems to think about it and then repeats the message "press the reset switch". Occasionally I can get it to work but it has become very temrpramental. The camera has had very little use since i purchased it new and is kept in excellent condition. Any help appreciated as this is a good little camera and I have always bought panasonic products as they have never let me down (until now!) Cheers, Iain, Sydney Australia

My Sony DCR-TRV240 camcorder won't eject the tape. The power and all camera features work, but it won't eject a tape.

I'm sorry that the Camcorder is not ejecting tape. Please follow the troubleshooting steps provided below and check the operation:

1. Please make sure that the battery is fully charged. 2. Perform Reset by following steps:

1. Locate the RESET button behind the LCD panel of the camcorder. 2. Use a pointed object (like a ballpoint pen) to press and hold the RESET button for 2-3 seconds. 3. After 2-3 seconds has elapsed, release the RESET button.

3. Perform a manual power reset by following the steps:

1. Turn off the camcorder. 2. Disconnect AC power adapter. 3. Remove the battery pack. 4. Move the POWER switch to the CAMERA position for 15 seconds. 5. Move the POWER switch to the OFF position. 6. Reconnect the AC power adapter or reinsert the battery pack. 7. Turn on the camcorder.

If the issue persists after following all the steps service will be required. You can find repair information and initiate service at:

I have a sony dig 8 trv340 and am receiving an error code of c31:42 what does this mean?

Hi,

In DCRTRV430 Camcorder, the C:31:42 error message is a Self diagnostic display. This message can be clearly identified by the help of a Sony Authorized service technician. Each of these codes indicates the symptoms and resolutions of the Camcorder. In C:31:42, the issue is with the tape and the tape mechanism.

I suggest that you remove and reinsert the tape to check if it helps. You may also try inserting new tapes in the Camcorder. Please remove the battery and/or power cable, connect, and perform operations from the beginning. You may also try resetting the Camcorder back to factory default after removing the tape.

To Reset the Camcorder, perform the steps below:

? Please open the LCD screen to locate the RESET button.

? To reset the Camcorder, press the RESET button using a sharp-pointed object.

? Please make sure that the Camcorder is turned on while pressing the reset button.

Also, try turning off the Camcorder and remove the battery pack. Then move the 'Power Switch' of the Camcorder to the ON position

for 1 minute. After about 1 minute, move the 'Power Switch' to the OFF position.

Now reinsert the battery, turn on the Camcorder and check whether it is working fine.

Thanks.

I got the code C:31:22 flashing on the screen. what should i do?

this error pertains to one of the reels (the thing that turns the tape)is malfunctioning.so most likely you'll be having issues w/recording,playing,fast forwarding or rewinding the tape.you can try RESET (press the reset button located inside and beside the eject button in the tape compartment cover, while cam is on).if it doesn't work try POWER RESET (turn cam off, remove the batt, make sure the ac adaptor is not connected.turn power switch to camera or player, and leave w/o power for at least a minute.turn power switch back to off and reinsert batt.check if working).if still you get the error, repair might be needed.hope this helps.thanks:)

Can not eject tape

I had same problem, while transferring media from TRV-16 to DVD, tape would not play, then would not eject. This after transferring several tapes to DVD. I tried several things over the last couple months that did not work before finally getting it open today. It did me no good to remove several of the outer panels that were each held by two "tiny" phillips head screws each. Went to the internet, found your post, also found a post that referred me back to SONY page which follows.......

Follow this procedure to troubleshoot if the cassette compartment will not open or the tape is stuck and will not eject.

After I did this, I could hear a whirring sound when I hit eject, although nothing came out. While the whirring was going on, I pulled up and out with constant pressure and the cassette holder opened. The tape had jammed apparently as the little protective plastic tape guard was jammed partially open when I pulled the cassette out. Good Luck and don't be afraid to put a little pressure on the door if you can hear the door trying to open.

Now I turn to recovering the tape, but having grown up with cassette decks, don't believe it will be a problem.

C:32:11 message flashes, cassette eject won't work, camera doesn't work

Just had this problem myself... called Sony. Here is what I did to fix this:

1. Turn off power
2. Open the LCD Display
3. Press "Reset" with paperclip/pen
4. Unplug ANY wires connected to the camcorder
5. Eject battery
6. Plug in DC charger
7. Power on
8. Attempt to eject tape
9. At this point, the metal tape holder comes out but refuses to open... slightly "close" the portion of the camcorder that has the button to eject the tape, and then open it fully again (you'll hear a click, this signals the device that the 'hatch' is open and to eject).
10. The metal door *should* pop out and allow you to withdraw the tape.

I've tried 4 different cassettes and about 2 seconds after hitting play, I get the error every time... my solution: Not going to try to play my tapes on the camcorder anymore... will find another player to play Hi8 MP cassettes. Unknown if able to record to tape as of yet.
