Sony Video Cameras - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support
What does it mean when it says c:31:23 and blinks the eject symbol?
That is a condensation error. I have the same problem. When I put a tape in it won't let me record or play tapes. I have been trying for over a yr to get it to stop. If u record with digital 8mm then u can only transfer with dig8mm. When u try to play it on just a 8mm inwhich is probably analog. All u see is static like nothing on tape. If u fig.out how to get it off lmk. I've tried many things and no luck.
Sony Video 8 TRV30E Handycam keeps ejecting tapes
The real reason this is happening is the spinning heads can not equalise, either with a preset speed or match the speed of the recorded media and so it ejects the tape as being incompatible.
DO NOT SMACK IT.
As I have done this in frustration and to just get the camera working, the mechanism inside these Sony cameras is so delicate and on such a soft-metal base plate, that the plate bends and is likely to be the cause of the problem in the first place (a small knock in the bag etc - you know where it says on the tape cover to 'press here' and in the instructions it says "do not press elsewhere on the cover" thats why, it's delicate).
Before you damage that camera and loose the ability to adjust/correct the speed of the heads all together, I would strongly suggest you take it in for repairs to a very reputable technician.
NOTE:: If your speed is wrong now and it is fixed, all that you have taped on the wrong speed may not be playable when you get it back - backup/copy all your compact (8mm) tapes to your computer/DVD/VHS anything.

New DCR-TRV260 won't play my old tapes
I have the same problem. I just bought a sony handyman and tried to play my old tapes and nothing, not even sound. But I just recorded something using an old tape and it records and I can play that back. I'm thinking maybe over time, somehow all the data on there got erased. Which is really a bummer.
Sony DCRA-C121 play back tapes
Take them into a camera shop and ask for them to be put onto a memory stick in .mov format.
Or buy one on the secondhand market, Facebook Marketplace, Kijiji, or eBay.
Date/Time resets every time i turn on camera.
Hi, yes, there is a small coin memory battery, usually something like a CR3032 lithium battery. Turn off the camera and insert a new 'coin' battery (correct side up). Close battery cover, turn on camera and go to menu and set time and date. It should remember the time and date for a year or two, provided you put a regular battery on the camera on a regular basis. Also note, some older Sony cameras allow you to set it so that it shows only the date for the 1st 5 seconds when you first turn on the camera that day, then shuts it off unless you want it to superimpose the time and date on the video. Good luck, and let me know if this solves your problem. John
Sony DCR-DVD200 camcorder not turning on after trying to fix it.
The best thing you can do now is to take it to a specialist and get them to do the repairs. Camcorders have a lot of electronics in them and can be easily damaged if your a not an experienced repairer. You might also have to consider that this camcorder might not be repairable.
Sony Handicam CD-TRV128 wont accept tape
If you mean Sony CCD-TRV128 they have been obsolete for a good length of time now.
The main issue with these, back 20 years ago, was the door catch.
It gets bent from misalignment or forcing the door closed. Sometimes it can be fixed but often as it is so old, spares are no longer available.
