I have a Canon Pixma MP620 Printer, and have installed the relevant drivers for Windows XP O/S. I am printing via a USB Cable. When trying to print from Open Office and Wordpad, the paper feeds through the printer as if it is printing, but comes out blank. I have done a Nozzle Check, and that prints all the pastel colour shades, blacks and greys perfectly. Please can you help me to rectify this problem?

I've seen a number of reports like this. I assume that you CAN print from other programs, such as your Internet browser?

If you can't print from ANY program, that's one thing, but if the only programs that aren't printing are WordPad and Notepad (and they print blank pages), the usual cause is that your printer (always a color inkjet of some type) will not print documents that are all black & white, but as long as there is some color in the page, the page prints.

The reason for that is something wrong with the black ink cartridge. Have you recently put in a new black cartridge, and if so, is it not the ink recommended by the printer manufacturer?

Or has the printer been sitting unused for a long time?

Print a test page using the printer's front panel controls. What happens?

Depending on the make and model of the printer, you might need to:
(a) run the printer's print head cleaning routine,
(b) print a test page, perhaps several times,
(c) manually clean the printer's printing head or related parts,
(d) insert a new black ink cartridge of the recommended type.

I think your Black Cartridge is Empty. Check it and replace it with the new one.

Your Printer is trying to produce Black Colour from your Colour Cartridge with a mix of Cyan, Magenta and Yellow.

I have a computer with windows xp connected with usb to my canon pixma mp780 and connected to my network my laptop with windows 7 is connected with wlan to the network.the laptop see the printer but i...

I've had a similar problem trying to print to a printer that was not on my laptop but connected to the network through a desktop that was connected to the WiFi router and a cable modem.

If you can see the printer, maybe the driver is already installed.
In my experience, I had to log on as the administrator to print to the printer but I have windows 7 on all 4 of my computers.

I don't have xp anymore.

Maybe xp is the problem.

I'm trying to connect to my Canon MP620, wirelessly. All my other computers have been hooked up, catch is I had the disc. Windows automatically installed everything when I hooked it up with the USB cord...

If I understand you correctly, you have lost the software?
I'd recommend getting the software for MP620 from Canon. Select the operating system in the drop down box to the right of the text "Please select your operating system to view available drivers and software" on the page to reveal the software downloads relevant for your operating system.
Then run the network install using the downloaded and installed software on one of the computers. You have to connect the printer using the USB cable once to setup network access to the printer. After that, all computers should be able to see the printer through the network. The software should be installed on all computers that should use the printer.
I have set up wireless connection to the very similar Canon MP600R before, with success.

Printing from my laptop

I would need more information to help you with this problem. Do you have the correct and up-to-date Canon drivers installed in your laptop? Is the Canon operating as a wireless unit, or is it connected to the computer via USB cable? If wireless, is the Canon setup to operate wirelessly? If on a USB cable, is the USB port properly configured? Is the USB cable plugged in at both ends? The easiest thing to try is to go to:www.usa.canon.com. You can find downloadable drivers, installation instructions, and other documentation, free. The Canon drivers use an INSTALLATION WIZARD program to guide you through the printer set-up process.
