I read the other posts re the 5C00 error, and want to add a twist: when I power up the printer, it kicks out two sheets of paper before it goes into its blink mode. When it blinks, it alternates 4X between orange and grenn, and then pauses on green for about 2-3 seconds, before alternating again. Pls help, thanks.
The alternate flashing of orange and green indicates a service call error, something that needs to be taken into a canon authorized service facility for repair. 4 alternate blinking of these lights indicates a problem with the purge unit, most likely requiring replacement.

Hello thanks for using Fixya 5C00
is a purge unit error This
error code tells that the purge unit did not complete a good
power on cycle and the cam is not in the correct position. In typical words that means the purge unit is stuck extended due to accumulation of a lot
of dried up ink. To solve it follow this
Open the cover and when the head comes to the
center, pull the power cord.
Once that power is off you can now move the
carriage to the far left so it is out of the way.
Now use a paper towel
and gently blot all the excess ink off of the ink Pads and press them
down. If the Wiper blade is extended, clean it and it should snap back
in position.
If it is still stuck, try spraying the area with Windex but
don't get any on anything except the pads.
If you have any fear to do this then best option is to take it back where you purchased it or contact Canon service center
about the error code. They will surely solve it.
I hope this solution will helpful 4 u Please don't forget to click on Four thumbs which are given below & then write testimonial for my appreciation if it is helpful THANKS & Keep Using fixya
5C00 is a purge unit error, the purge is the unit that cleans the printhead on the right hand side. If the printhead will come out of the right side, you will need to check for paper scraps caught in there, If stuck on the right you will need a shop to check it out for you so you don't break anything. You need to remove covers and printhead and check under the printhead in the purge unit.
5C00 is a purge unit error, thats the cleaning unit on the right where the printhead parks. Look inside with a flashlight, if nothing is blocking it's operation, you willl need a new print engine, qm2-2020-000 around $150.00
BCI - 15 is not the same as the BCI -16. The look and feel the same, but the ink is handled differently by the printer - so while, in theory you could use them interchangable, the output would be terrible... Canon set it so that you can only use a BCI 16 in an IP90.
ok so its strange that u would need help with a $30 printer but that being said try below
It's a purge unit(QM2-2024). Either tiny jammed piece of paper, or the gear is out. New part is going to be at least 50 bucks, then labor. Canon iP90 Service Error Message 5C00
if your printer is flashing 4 orange and then back to green repeatedly - i found a solution to it for my ip90v - i opened the printer and checked the right hand side cogs - carefully turn them and you may see that some stray paper jam debris is blocking the cleaning unit from returning to its home in the bottom front of the printer - carefully remove it and replace the casing - turn on and with any luck you will have a dully functioning ip90 like i did.
i took out both printer cartriges then put them back in. there was a window that asks if you replaced the cartriges; click yes then click on the black and color boxes indicating you replaced (re-inserted) both cartriges. for me the light stopped blinking (previously, it was blinking orange 4 times). next i tried to print but only yellow and black appeared. i then cleaned the head 2 times.
