Transfer Unit replacement

Can you tell me if it is possible to get the printer to start printing again when it says the Transfer unit needs replaced?

It is not economical to replace the unit when it is cheaper to buy a new printer.

I would only really like it to work again as we have toners that need used up.

Cheers

    Hello,

you wrote that the reset of the counter is´nt easy, because entering the service mode is that problem.

Is there a way to getting into the service mode? What is needed, or give it a new chip that should be replaced?

    best regards

I have a Xerox Phaser 6100. I just replaced the imaging unit and the transfer belt. Now my copies are coming out with lines across the whole page. one page that I printed came out wiht all colored lines...

Try doing a "stop test." Stop the print process at various stages, and see if which component creates the defect.
For instance, if a print takes 20 seconds, during the first 10 seconds, the drum is generating the image to transfer to the belt. If the image is bad on the drum, then that is your culprit. If not, then see which unit creates the problem.

Also, what color is the line?
After the unit gets to the transfer belt, you should check the transfer roller and fuser.

Error code SC471

SC471 is a Transfer Belt HP error. The transfer belt does not lift in the rear. The rear cam (G060 3894) slips past its locking tab on the square stepped shaft and slips off the side.
The fix: reposition the rear transfer belt lift cam to lock the tab into the square shaft. Secure the locking tab with a tie wrap.
Now this is the solution if you know what you are doing on this printer. I can not even begin to tell you in this forum how to dis-assemble the printer to get the transfer belt unit out and effect this repair. IKON is pretty pricy on labor. I would see if there is an independant guy locally that can do it. Inexpensive repair that I would charge $90 or less for. If you HAVE to call IKON then just make sure they do not try to tell you that you have to replace the transfer belt unit. This repair is all that is needed 90% of the time.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

My printer prints color stripes on approximately the first five pages of every run and every time it pauses during a long run it restarts printing with color stripes again for the first few pages. I have...

One possible cause could be the transfer belt cleaning section. It can get a toner build up on the blade. Take it out and wipe the blade off. The transfer unit is above the drums and the cleaner is on the left side.

Ricoh Aficio cl2000

Most of the time when I find this happening on a printer, not just Ricoh's it turns out to be the PCU (photo conductor unit). The color PCU is one unit and the black is a seperate unit. Hope this helps.
