My Samsung side-by-side refrigerator does not dispense water (or water into the ice tray) with the filter in. If we take the filter out, the water dispenser works great (haven't gotten so far as whether the ice tray fills). It is a new filter. Is it a bad filter or a larger issue? Also, is it safe to drink unfiltered water through the fridge?

Is it that the ice maker unit won't drop to the tray ? or the ice from the tray will not dispense trough the door? I need more clarification to try to help...thanks
Either the icemaker support is broken, DA61-01801A
or the ice tray is damaged or has lime buildup. The ice tray is
supposed to twist when it flips: an off-center stud on the tray catches
the support, while the tray is still turning. If it does twist but does
not release ice - replace or clean the ice tray, part number DA63-02284B
If the water filter has been changed. And there is water going to the door, then the valve or circuit to icemaker is bad, or the unit or door is frozen.
Check the water filter - it should be at the bottom of the fridge - turn it 1/2 turn to the left. After several months of use (less if you use it a lot) the filter can clog.
there is a double valve at the back bottom lhs. check continuity of both valve coils but doubtfull this is the problem.
the fault may be that the filling tube is frozen. try looking in this area
Don't buy another Samsung reffigerator. I won't. I and I will always tell everyone I know the same.
I paid over 1200.000 for my refrigerator in Nov 2006. It has never worked correctly. They have replaced everything on the back three times and it is still not working correctly. Since then the refrigator part is not cooling. Today is Sept 10 2008 and I am going to purchase a new refrigerator. It will never be Samsung again.
