Acer AL2216W LCD Monitor Logo

Native resolution suddenly scrolls.

After a regular reboot my monitors native resolution (1680x1050) suddenly scrolls in windows (xp sp3). That is I can only see a portion of the desktop and moving the mouse to the edges scrolls it. Previous to that it had worked fine for months. I installed no new drivers or made any other system changes.

The monitors menus show a resolution of 1440x900 even though windows is set to 1680x1050. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling display drivers aswell as monitor drivers, to no effect. Tried some older display drivers, even though the newest version available used to work just fine before, also with no luck.

My video card is ATI Radeon HD4850 and my monitor is a 22" widescreen Acer AL2216W.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What's the highest resolution that you can set in Windows and NOT have it scroll? Does it look clear at this resolution? or fuzzy? Does your video card see or have any other active desktops or monitors connected to it?

The native resolution for the Acer AL2216W is 1600X1200. It is acting correctly for the resolution you have set it to.

I presume by now you have figured out that the native resolution of the Acer AL2216W is 1600X1200. The scrolling will go away when set to this resolution.

How to adjust the screen

Choose a resolution not greater than the native size of your screen :
for example, if your screen is an 1388 x 760, don't use 1600 x 800 !
How do you do that ?
right click on an empty space of the desktop, select properties, parameters tab, and move the slider to the native resolution of your screen.

I bough the LCD model VA2231w- LED every time I turn it on then it pop up that change the resoluyion to 1920/ 1080P I don't know how to do it. So please help. Thanks Thai Nguyen

This would be the Native resolution. That your display functions and displays best in.
Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7.
(1) RIGHT mouse click over your desktop.
lightdark_0.jpg
Windows XP will differ - but same basic idea to navigate and make this fix.
Pictures show from a Windows Vista Machine (extremely similar to Windows 7)
(2) Click Display settings
lightdark_1.jpg
(3) Now you'll see a slider bar, Native Computer Display 1680x1050 resolution.
Some computers can not support this resolution and may cause non operational situations.
If the display setting is not on the slider bar. Chances would be that it's not a supported Resolution.
"Older computer" If the display doesn't show while trying different resolutions - do not click apply and wait. the screen will return to it's previous setting. ViewSonic VX2235 has a Setting that could be used to Disable this annoying message - Revert to ViewSonic lightdark_2.jpg

If i try to connect to 1680x1050, my screen goes dark. but when im using 1600x1000 it still desplays

The resolution 1680X1050 is the native resolution for your monitor. This means that the best view for your monitor is for this resolution. Your problem in not at the resolution, it's at the refresh rate. How to fix this? Go to the settings for your screen. At the lower right corner you will locate "for advanced users" button. Click on it and choose the "screen" tab. At the lower part of the window you will locate the "refresh rate". Click on it and change it at the lower setting (about 60 - 70 Hertz). Click on aplly - OK. You will be back to the resolution settings page. Set the resolution at 1680X1050, apply - ok. Go back to "refresh rate" window and change the setting to a higher setting STEP BY STEP. In case of an "out of range" and blaack screen DON'T DO ANYTHING, at 15 seconds you will come back to the previous settings. With this procedure you will get the native resolution for your screen with the higher refresh rate.

My Acer AL2216W suddenly displays a blurred picture. I turned my computer off at night and in the morning after running a virus scan the picture comes in blurry. How do I fix this. I've rebooted several...

Please verify that you are running your PC video card with native resolution of this monitor, 1680x1050 @60Hz for best picture for this monitor.
Unless you may have problem inside the monitor or the video card itself, so try this monitor on another PC also.

Resolution issues with Acer LCD al 2216w

Possibly this will help. I have installed two1680x1050 LCD screens this past year: your 2216W model on a new PC, and a similar model from another maker on my wife's older HP PC.

Mine worked at the native resolution, my wife's did not. Difference: the age of the computer's (actually Windows XP's) native software for monitors. I went to Control Panel, Display, Advanced, and slid the left-hand slider control to view the various resolutions available. On the newer computer, the highest resolution choice was 1680x1050. On the older computer, the choice was not given. The choices stopped somewhere areound 1270 by 1080.

Solution was to download the newer driver from (as I recall) the computer manufacturer's website, using their regular download/update channel. That gave my wife's older computer the necessary top-end resolution. It was not something the monitor manufacturer could have fixed.

Acer Monitor Display of text and image is not sharp

This might seem obvious, but is your video card output set to the native resolution on the monitor? If not, it will look fuzzy. Try 1680x1050, if you don't know the monitors native resolution.
No need to use anything higher than a 60hz refresh rate either.
